Best Skiing College.

I'm currently going to school in Southern California, but looking to transfer into a college where I can ski almost everyday. I'm looking at CU boulder, University of b.c, And U of Utah, they all seem pretty sick anybody go to any of these schools and have an opinion where to go?

Scope that video, it's a recap of my year here in Nelson, British Columbia. I am taking the Ski Resort Operations and Management program, It's a "skiing course" in college, but it's a goood time, with good opportunities created from graduating the program.

I go to Boulder, and as much as I love it (seriously in love with this school) it's not the place to be if you're trying to ski everyday. I know people who only take classes Tues/Thurs and ski all the other days, but still means close to four hours of driving everyday (assuming you have a car) unless you've got a place to stay in the mountains. I've skied at least one day every weekend this season. If I'd really tried I could've gotten in three days a week all season, but I'm a lazy stoner without a car.

So, if you're trying to ski EVERYDAY I wouldn't recommend CU. If you set up your schedule right and have a car it wouldn't be tough to ski 5 days a week - if you're committed about it. If you're looking for an amazing school in an amazing location with direct access to anything/everything outdoors then Boulder is for you, but if you're really trying to ski everyday of the week I'd look at U of U...

From Boulder (depending on how you drive) Keystone/A-Bay/Breck/Vail are are ~1:45-2.5 hours

I don't really know too many details, but i've stayed in Bozeman Montana (Montana State University) and skied at Bridger Bowl.  I loved both the town and the mountain.

Thanks man, Boulder seems the best for skiing and the overall scene, defiently wanting to ski as much as I can but I'd settle with 3-4 days a week.

scope this buddy! come to BC and check out selkirk college in nelson,

whitewater is 20 mins from town and hosts some of the best powder skiing in north america i promise. super cool town too really unique, crazy good night life and endless powder!

UNIVERSITY OF DENVER! no class on friday unless you're a hard science major. ski all day. party downtown all night... Oh, and you have a 6 week winter break from Thanksgiving to New Years

Selkirk is a great two-year college. I didn't go there, but know people who have and I know some people who work there. Everyone that I've talked to absolutely loves Selkirk. But, if you're aiming for a four-year degree keep in mind you will have to transfer to a bigger institution, with the exception of Nursing. If you want to get into a trade or get an Associates, or a certificate and want to ski... Selkirk is definitely a good choice in BC.
As people said before, Selkirk is located in a pretty awesome place if you want access to some awesome skiing. The main campus is located in Castlegar which is about an hour from Whitewater and an hour from Red.


Anybody who actually goes to Selkirk can correct me if I'm wrong on anything.

Yeah I go to Denver... place is great. CU is good too, its just too big for me. So take that into consideration. Vail/breck/Winter Park/etc are all a day trip away. Skiing 3-4 days a week is easy if that's what you really want to do... PM me if you wants more info

The school is legit, "Selkirk College", worth looking into... There's quite a few artsy programs, such as music, digital arts, and trades programs (offered at other campuses, not the 10th street campus), so the people that the college attracts are, for the most part, really down-to-earth like-minded people. People that want to try a career in something they love before chasing money to the grave.
The SROAM program has a fairy full schedule, with usually 4 spares every 3 weeks or something like that. We also have a un-said 20 cm+ rule, which is fairly common up at whitewater. I've skied 65+ plus days, with multiple touring days, and a cat-skiing experience that was legendary, done while in school, and am doing fairly well in all courses... the school work does take some effort though. I've gone from park-rat to powder-hound, whitewater will change you..
Come this fall, we'll show you the ropes while we're in our second year!

Nice dude, BC is the shit. We have an american currently in our class too.. I don't know what your budget is, but i believe American's have to pay twice the (or less) as much money, due to them being international students. But Selkirk is known as one of the cheapest colleges in the game, so it is do-able. Yea man, we defs have a crew, everybody in my class rips (think of a class full of ppl like u..)... There are 4-5 five of us that really came together with a similar riding ability and passion, and we have ripped up the province. Look into it.

Fort Lewis College in Durango,CO.
I ski 5 days a week, skiing is only 30 mins away at Purgatory, Telluride is 2 hrs away, Wolf creek is an hour, Silverton is an hour. Not to mention all the amazing backcountry in the San Juans....

I would highly recommend UBC because you can't really go wrong with either living in Vancouver, or even better (IMO) the UBC Okanagan campus is in Kelowna, bringing you close to Big White, Apex, Silver Star, etc. If you'd rather be closer to Whistler though, the Vancouver campus is a better bet, and you could go to Grouse/Cypress/Seymour when you're short on time/money. Also look into Simon Fraser in BC as well.

or you could pick a school based on academics and on skiing.  Why waste four years of your life at some school with shitty skiing, while living for the future, when you can spend four years at a school with awesome skiing and prepare for your future at the same time?

Couple other good ones are Westminster College in SLC and Sierra Nevada College on Lake Tahoe. SNC is less than 30 minutes from Squaw, Alpine and Northstar.

Don't go to the u of u they force you to take a mormon studies class every semester and the beer has only 3.2% as much alcohol as normal beer
