Whats good with the atomic FFG bindings?

Specifically the 14 and 16 models. I'm a light dude at 125lbs and like 5'6" but I'm turning 20 soon and I'm skiing a lot of park and groomers. currently on salomon Z12's and riding at 6 which i why I was hesitant to get a binding whose lower end is 6 since I heard it was bad to ride at the extreme values.
Oh and I have dalbellos if there's some sort of strange boot/binding issue.

plus between the two, the only difference I see is the toe piece. If it matters, they might go on punx. I need skis while i'm at it and I figured if I was gonna get punx, might as well check out the Atomic bindings too.

if not, other good options?

Aren't the Atomic FFG bindings just the Salomon STH series re-branded?

i don't see how that solves your problem. The difference between the ffg14 and ffg16 is the toe piece/build materials. The 14 has the "z" toe, which is honest to god one of the worst toe piece designs in history, why salomon continues to produce it is beyond me. Salomon did introduce the sth 12/14 driver series last year though, those models incorporate the tried and trusted drive toe perviously exclusive to the sth16/ffg16/s916/etc. This toe is known for being very durable, and very reliable, I personally swear by it.

You said you are riding at 6 right now correct? Pick up a pair of sth 12 drivers and you will be good to go

The Atomic FFG series is the same as Salomon STH, just with the Orange/Green Atomic Team colors.  It is a bomber binding (I have the FFG 16 on my Bents).  Steel toe and heel housings; adjustable wings and toe height; 90 or 130 mm brakes; DIN up to 16.  Totally reliable...I would recommend the FFG 16.

Only other binding to consider is the Look Pivot series (same as FKS).

just trying to help.  The FFG 16 Din range is 6-16, the FFG series all starts at 6 as the lowest DIN Value.  So if you buy the FFG 14 its range is 6-14; the FFG 12 is 6-12.  The nominal cost to buy the better binding is worth it.  Plus you don't have to crank it down all the way; the FFG 16 would be perfect at a 7-10 setting.  If I was purchasing Punx, skiing in the park, and had Dalbellos, I would want a high-performance/safe binding that would grow with me and I could use on future skis too.

^ Nope. the 12 starts at 4, which would be perfect for a light skier riding at 6.

well i figured i'd just look up reviews of the STH series which there seems to be plenty of.

someone said it, not sure who, but I'm pretty sure i'll be done growing, i'm almost 20. might grow a bit more but thats nothing that I would need to get new bindings over.

and yeah, I ride low, but I never pop out accidentally so I'm not about to go changing my DIN setting and risk hurting myself since I seem to be fine.

which he doesn't need either of them, so we recommend the 12, which will be a far more practical binding for someone his size who rides at the din he does. if you are not riding at at least 11, you don't need a 16 din binding.

A good rule of thumb to follow is: if you have to ask, you do not need a 16 din binding, you will know if you need it

I have sth 14 driver toes mounted on my liberty phil larose pros. i have dalbello krypton kross boots and they fit fine. i am 6'3" 160lbs and the bindings did their job. They released when i needed them to and didnt prerelease. They are super light and durable. Definitely made the right choice with them. I am a beginner in the park so for you since you are light but yet better in the park go with the 14s.

right. and I know I don't need those. It's just that it seems like all the lower DIN bindings are all plastic and such. I need a good binding, just one thats not a 16 DIN. fucking plastic on my Z12 is destroyed to the point where I'm not gonna ski them like that anymore. hit them on some urban rails a couple times. they still work but... I think I'll take something more durable. Plus I'll try to avoid slamming them on rail. that was only a couple times anyway.

did you read where i said the z toe is one of the worst binding designs in history? ya, z12s are complete shit and lack any durability. the driver series is far more durable

Another good binding for you is the look pivot 14's/Rossingol fks 140's (Same bindings different paint) They are metal construction, and are 14 din bindings which would be good for you.
