haha that response read funny! I thought you were going to blast me but then you said you were, made me giggle.

No, I exagerated, but you shouldnt have to be forcing to read a logo or brand name. Its readable, but if I see them whipping by I will never in a million years be able to read the brand.

Surprisingly appropriate song... The whole "you ain't artsier than me because you _____" really rings true, because knowing how to use a million photoshop filters and gimmickry doesn't make you a graphic artist.

Chill yourself... and learn the difference between hate and criticism. I've been a graphic artist going on 7 years now... I know this thread is about your friend and not yourself, so I'm not sure how he would take it; but as a designer if you aren't able to take crit and use it to improve yourself, you're not going to make it ANYWHERE in the field, much less through school.

Making something that looks cool is something that any PS jockey can do. Design is something completely different.

well you got a +k here, because for some reason i didn't have you at 10 already.



and i fully agree. only now, being in film school, do i realize how much you are expected to stand up well to criticism in order to be successful. it can be hard at first and it feels good to defend your work, but that's no way to improve.

This is a prime example of bad graphic design. Convolution and incoherency ≠ artistic skill. Anybody in the design world who isn't a complete baffoon will tell you that busy and gimmicky designs should stay where they belong: myspace profiles and juggalo concert flyers.

And yes, I am hating.

I'm sure if he's dedicated he'll be able to use his technical skills to his advantage in school. And again, we haven't heard anything from him. He just needs to remember to go into it humble!
