Are on3p worth the hype?

I know like every mod on the site works for them or something like  that and they on a never ending posting in which ski i should get threads. But from people that do not work for them or are not sponsored by them. how are they, reviews and feedback. No hate towards the guys that run it, just trying to get a real word of info here.

Actually On3p only has 2-3 actual employees - Scott, Rowen and Trevor (who did the Pillowfight graphics - props to him). I don't know if there are any other mods besides me who consistently sing the praises of On3ps but I will say that yes, they are absolutely worth the hype and I am basically done with everyone else's product, which is not to say anything bad about others' product I just am hopelessly in love with the on3p ski lineup. The attention to detail, quality of materials and craftsmanship, the philosophy behind them (by which I mean the kind of skis they aim to make), everything about them is as good or better than anyone else making skis right now. And yeah, it doesn't hurt that you're directly supporting good people. I see Surface in a similarly positive light.

definitely worth every penny.

i still have yet to have a core shot after years of riding them, some of, if not the thickest bases/edges on the market.

i wouldn't take anything newschoolers has to say about their lineup with any credibility since most members really don't know how to ski, unless you're looking for reviews on their park skis.

Hate to burst everyone's bubble but no, they are not. I bought a pair of jmos last season and they just fell apart. No hate on the company everyone seemed super cool, but the product I received was sub par compared with say Armada or K2... don't even get me started on surface... (horrible).

Even if that attitude was correct they also seem to get pretty damned solid reviews on TGR.

I also got jmos last season and after beating the crap out of them for a season, they're still in prime condition. I rode these suckers hard in every condition from ice to 10" of fresh.

They are the real deal, I'm sure you got a bad pair... have you hit them up about a new pair?

I'd say so. I bought a pair of Billy Goats at the beginning of the 09/10 season and have ridden them pretty hard ever since. Not a single core-shot or noticeable blemish -- and I KNOW that I've ridden right over rocks and stumps and shit with them multiple times, if not daily. My homie and I took the same line over a rock one day and his Benchetler's were gouged to shit while my skis didn't get scratched a bit.

I wasn't super stoked on the cut of the ski, but that's my fault for not ordering something symetrical like I'm into.. In terms of craftsmanship and customer service, you're in the right place for quality with ON3P.

If the skis "just fell apart" then I suspect the issue would be covered by warranty. I sent you a PM to find out the details and to see if you would need a replacement pair.

Our warranty rate is 3% right now, which is definitely higher than I would like (I would be happy with 1%), but we continue to improve our process all the time and the skis keep getting better and better. Very happy with how all the 11/12 skis are coming out at the moment, so hopefully we see that rate drop down to 1% or less.

Sucks that some people have had skis break (always going to happen to some pairs), but the overwhelming majority of people on the skis are stoked on them.

From an outsider looking in, I think they are a solid investment. Knowing many of people who ski them, and paid for them like any other skis, they are all happy with their purchase. Additionally, you are getting a small-time manufacturer who is going to give you that 1-on-1 service if something goes wrong. Not to mention, you know who your ski-builders are and can be assured that every ounce of their love for the sport went into forming the raw materials into your skis.

You can't say the same about a lot of other companies (even if they have awesome skis as well).

You've also been pretty liberal in your interpretation of what is warrantee-able, which artificially inflates that percentage. Most companies, in my experience, are somewhat stricter.

I don't own any so I can't personally attest to whether there worth the hype, but you can scour gear talk and ski gabber for hours and not find one complaint about there quality but you'd be sure to find a ton of threads complaining about quality or warranties with every other major company.

Have yet to ski a pair, but how could anyone not want to do business with them? Very few ski related companies seem more engaging or invested in ensuring their customer's satisfaction. And, as I've said before, you just gotta love how transparent the ascent of the company has been. I remember Scott's thread(s) updating everyone on the press, and the first prototypes. It was like one of NS's own was making it, and we all felt it, and we were allowed a peek at the process. Pretty damn cool.

Also, I know beyond a doubt that these guys would bend over backwards to make things right in the event a pair of sticks pooped out. Can't say the same about some other companies.

Yes they are worth it. My caylors are the best pair of skis that I have ridden. Super durable, only some topsheet chipping (to be expected) and a few scratches on the vase where I was a dumbass and hit some massive rocks that would've destroyed any other ski. It's also nice to be able to have communication with the company. I don't know if they do this now because they are making the skis more in advance, but last year, I didn't like the topsheet on the caylors, and they were able to switch it to a different one, not many companies can do that. Just read some reviews on them and you will see only good things about them

Yeah I've never ridden em but I dig the fact that these guys are on the forums giving out advice....like ginko will throw out advice on other companies products....that has spoken volumes to me personally and will definitely take a good hard look at on3p when I'm ready to buy new skis.

Probally worth the hype, seem like the most durable out there and every kid raves about them. But I personally dont want to shell out that kind of money and rather get 2 different skis for some killer deal. I like to ride as many skis as posiable, but ON3P sounds like the shit that really cares about there products and the comunity, so props!

this, it doesn't make sense for me to buy a park ski that i will destroy (inevitably) for $650, when i can find hardly used skis in buy/sell for 200 dollars.

Since we where just talking about it I am looking at the Jmos and the Filthy Riches for doing Park next year I weight 167 and I am 6'3" and it will be my first year skiing park but otherwise I am intermediate and I learn fast so what height do you think I was think maybe 181 but what do you think?

181 Filthy Rich, 186 Jeronimo. I'm assuming here that you'll be taking this ski around the rest of the mountain, the longer length on the Jmo (186 vs 181) will be better for that, even if its a bit bigger for park.

However, if its 100% park, 100% 181 Filthy Rich.


And for the flex question, I can't answer since its been a while since I've flexed a Chronic, let me do some research and get back to you with info I know is correct.

I bought a pair of Jmo's last season too, and they held up very well.  In fact, I think I'll probably have them for the next 2-3 seasons because they literally look brand new.  I only had like 35 days on them which isn't as much as what someone on the west coast would get with them, but I skied them pretty hard if I do say so myself.
