Free editing software?

i currently have windows movie maker and i want something new because it messes up my edits. when i trim a clip it does this wierd thing like it starts really quick at the bgining of the clip then starts at the point i trimmed it to start. and movie maker blows anyway. so whats another good, free program i can download? thanks

I assume you're on a windows computer so you would preferably torrent either Adobe Premier or Sony Vegas. I have never used Premier so I do not know much about it, but I started out using Vegas and it is probably a nice place to start, the program is fairly simple, but at the same time it works and you can make some pretty good edits in it. Another option is to try Lightworks, I have never tried it. Just heard about it and its free so why not check it out? http://www.lightworksbeta.com/

how is lightworks beta? is it easy to use but still a good program? thats what ill probably end up going with because its free

I've heard mixed reviews on lightworks, people say it's powerful but it's kind of hard to use. To the guy that said fcp, no. And premiere is much better than Vegas. You should really just get premiere, it's free too if you torrent if

I hate using lightworks. mainly because it is completely difrent from every other software and i cant understand it.
