Frank Darabont got dropped and even under his lead the first season was corny, ticklish and non-canon as hell from the second episode on.
I'm sorry but they're just raping the possibilities here. If you want a good, cold-hearted zombie story with great personalities and an always-looming sense of fatality (read: anyone can get killed off at anytime) then read the comics. You won't be disappointed.
On it's own, hell, it could be a good show, but knowing the source material it's just complete shit.
Kirkman never wanted the TV series to be a complete reproduction of the comic book. He wanted it to be close but different enough that people who read the series could still watch the show without going, 'hes gonna die' 'thats gonna happen' 'shes gonna die'. However, I will agree that its stupid what happened with Darabont, but I'm still happy Kirkman is supposed to have a bigger role with the show.
I'll agree the whole science center thing is kind of a weird direction but I was speaking more for the different characters. I also think the casting for some of the original characters was pretty good; Carl, Rick and Glenn. Plus the new season is going to be Hershels Farm and such. I dunno, definitely not counting it out yet. Also I said he's supposed to have a bigger role in the new season...as well as they're talking about 12-13 episode seasons.
