I've been scopin' the Armada JJ's just wondering....

- what y'all have to say about them

- top competing skis with this model

I'm a huge fan of Armada so obviously have all around great things to say about them.

The S7 by Rossi would be a big competitor. I ride the S7 also and love both. Any ski with reverse side cut and rocker is really going to be a competing ski.

Demo them and try for yourself. Everyone has their own opinion.


I personally think the JJ is one of the best on the market. To say it's THE best is arguable. I'm not biased.

You can't go wrong with Armada though. Their products are quality and so is there customer service. (From my experiences)

Is there much of a difference between the S7's and the JJ's in your opinion? Or would you say its just a matter of personal preference.

Well, i have the JJ's and they are great everywhere, I really like them and i would recommended them as a everyday ski. I cant help you much, since i dont push them too their limit. Im a good skier but not the best one on the moutain, so i can say how they perform in variable condition and hard charging, and what not.

But since you want to do competiton on them, i would say buy the 195 JJ, They are stiffer, but the 185cm are good if the 195cm are to big.

Like said above, the s7 will be a nice option.

They both ride small because of the rocker and are both generally stiff but very responsive and playful skis. They are a lot of similarities but they have their small differences.

I guess if there were two words to describe the differences in the two I would say the JJ is more agile while the S7 is more beefy.

As I said, give both a try. Either way feel comfortable to size up drastically in this ski.

I'm a 5'4" female and man handle the fuck out of the 176 S7's. I would have no problem going into the 180's on either of these. Superb float in both as well.

Ridden my JJ's 40+ days and I love them. S7s are pretty similar except as K_M said the tail is much more of a pintail, which makes it harder to ski switch and land larger cliffs and less of an expert skier ski than the JJ from what I've read. Honestly you cannot go wrong though I can almost guarantee you'll like any ski like the JJ, S7, Bent Chetler, Bibby, etc. And they are definitely a one ski quiver (excluding park).

I ride volkl mantras. That's one thing I was looking at these for, being able to ski different conditions. I'm not necessarily looking for a ski to shred groomers, which I think my current ski compromised too much on.

That's definately one thing that I like what I've heard from these skis, being a fun ski for any condition, not just a quiver ski. I just don't want a pure powder ski that I'm not going to be able to ski crud in or like my current skis, a weird combination of groomed edging ski and powder ski.

worst ski i have ever skiied, i hated it. OK so it wasn't thaaat bad, but it didn't shine anywhere but powder in which it was a decent performer. It's squirly and jibby and playful and if thats what you want in a ski than it may be for you. anywhere outside of powder though it just does not do what the hype said it would.

Though i have to say i am a traditional skiier and i like my 195 moships and big bad ass skis so keep that in mind with my review. And i was probably not skiing like it should but hey thats what i asked of it and i didnt like it

ski is light as shit too

well i am the best skier on the mountain /claim and i loved the jjs when i demod them in whistler. i used them hucking cliffs, knee deep powder, trees, steep hard pack, and crud on the main runs and they were so sick everywhere. i also demod the icelantic gypsies and they were amazing as well

I understand they're gonna hype it to make it seem more attractive to your everyday skiier. What you described is actually what I'm looking for, plus I'm looking at the weight factor too. It seems to me like these skis are awesome, depending on what your looking for, but the deciding point lies in style of skiiing

The JJs are an awesome pair of skis, the Rossignol s7 is the main competitor but next year the Salomon rocker 2 will be another competitor. You will not be disappointed with the JJ.

I've tried both. JJs are jibbier and lighter, S7s are a bit more damp. I preferred the JJ on hard snow too. The bad thing about the JJ is that the tip got knocked around but they were way too short for me so the longer stiffer ones would be better.

That said, I just bought some Super 7s cheap, even though I prefer the JJ. Read into that what you will.

I have jjs and I ski pnw, I love them, they float so well in pow and rip thru crud really well, they are my second ski along with my park skis and if I weren't going into the park I would ride them every day they are great

How tall are u cuz my only advice would be go 185 cuz compared to ur vents they would feel very short

I think the 175 would work well for you, and I'm not sure about the preorder, but you might as well just order them when they are avaiable online or in stores I don't see any benefits to preordering.

5'6 140lbs here!! and i use a 175 4FRNT TURBO, at 104 underfoot... great quiver ski!!! so a JJ at 175 would be really good, just a little wider... i like the 104-107 underfoot cus for us light weight people, it floats just fine, and we get a much more nimble ski
