Any Eagle Scouts on here?

I just got mine tonight. I'm really really excited. for my Eagle Scout project I build a small terrain park on my local hill with the help of the park crew, and did free lessons for anyone that wanted to learn some park on flat boxs and simple rails. It was really cool!

Please don't hate because this is something I've been working on since like 1st grade in cub scouts.

No hate here, Eagle Scouts is legit as fuck and it kills on resumes! But at the lower levels (ie boy scouts) at least in my region/experience are waaaaay un-prepared/ un-organized and down right dangerous.

I got mine 2 years ago, my project consisted of clearing a walking trail through some thick ass woods for a local church.

I also was a crew leader when we went to philmont.


As far as resumes go i havent been shown any special courtesy since ive been an eagle scout, which fuckin blows.

another thing, most of the newer adults dont like me in my troop (im a merit badge counselor for snow sports, wilderness survival, and auto tech) cus i dont go by the book. Thats what pisses me off with BS today, all their new rules and shit are fucking retarded and i definately dont agree with all the shit they tell you about survival.

Yeah? That does suck. My grandma knows Charlez's Swab's (or however you spell it, but the big investment firm) right hand girl. And she said she would rather take a lower qualified Eagle Scout, then an over qualified non scout.

I have several relatives who are Eagle Scouts. However, I quit a few years ago, simply because I couldn't get along well with the kids who were also in it. Backed out after I got my Bear patch, which still has yet to be sewed on.

But that is by far the coolest Eagle Scout project ever.

Im an Eagle Scout, got mine back in 2009. Its a great accomplishment but just isn't what it used to be. To say you were an Eagle Scout back in the day meant you were a bad ass mofo.

My older brother is one, his project was to renevate the basement of a local church with like a kitchen, rec area, etc.

I used to do it, but the program I was in for it was terrible and it was a genuine shitshow.

I'm an Eagle Scout, was the 85th eagle in my 86 year old troop. Still keep in touch with the troop (i'm almost out of college now) and we're up about 90 Eagles now in about 90 years. Not bad numbers when you think about it..

I got to star and then the leader quit and the new guy didnt really know what he was doing. Stopped doing a lot of the fun outdoors stuff and would just do day hikes didnt really see myself having the opportunity to get to eagle with the way the troop was heading so I decided to go skiing and never went back.

idk man, a lot of the progress you make in scouting comes from the journey.  i couldve gotten it at 14, but chose to take my time and do it right.  i got it when i was 17.  more power to you for getting it done and out of the way, but i learned more from scouting in those three years that i might never have learned had i lost interest and fallen out.  it was nice seeing all those people at my court of honor that i had met along the way, that really impacted me, there to support me and the beginning of my life.

but yeah, 14 is young.  jesus.

Never thought I'd be posting this on NS, but I am a Cub Scout Den Leader. I have been having a tough time getting guys to show up for meetings and outings. I even had a front yard jib outing this winter. That was a blast, but even in 2nd grade my guys are all involved in baseball, lacrosse, basketball, etc. There's really nothing I can do about that, but guys are quitting and I'm starting to take it personally. I need some tips from you guys on what your scout leaders did to make it more fun.

I quit, I'm not proud of that but I hated the scouts. We never did anything even remotely entertaining. And I hate to say It but all the other scouts were losers (for lack of a better term). All really nerdy sheltered kids.

I got to star and just couldn't take it anymore.

A jib session sounds fantastic though.

built and painted a huge kick back wall for soccer at a local park last fall. submitted my paperwork 2 days before my 18th birthday.  i was cutting it close, but i made it.  getting my eagle has probably been the biggest accomplishment of my life so far.  troop 86 represent.
