So ive been lurking in gear talk lately and ive seen alot of threads saying "what goggles to buy, are these good" etc. So in this thread i'll give me .02 cents about different kinds of goggles.
How many lenses should you have? - If you have a pair of darker lensed goggles and you night ski, then you might want another light colored lense.
What Lens Color should I choose?
Black/Polarized: reduces glare without distorting colors making them suitable for bright sunny conditions, though they might be too dark at the end of the day/night skiing.
Green/Silver: Enhances contrast making them suitable for most brighter conditions.
Yellow/Amber/Gold Lenses: Filters out blue light and brings out shadows making them suitable for most conditions and especially in low to moderate light.
Purple/Rose: Best used for low-light conditions as it brings out shadows and contours.
Clear Lenses: Is best used for dark conditions such as sunset or cloudy conditions and night skiing. (I owned a pair last year, really liked them, but then I gave them away, for some c-bars.)
I've also seen alot of threads where people don't know what goggles to get, so here i'll give some ideas out for what you can get and the price range.
What goggles to get?
POC Lobes: Price range goes from about 135-175 US$, available in 10 different colors. Murdered out looks sick btw.
Smith I/OS: Price is about 165$, there are multiple combinations of straps/lenses to chose from, they are worth the money for sure.
Oakley Crowbars: Starting at around 95-110$. They are what I own right now, I have the murdered out pair, black frame/strap/lense. And even though they are black lensed, you can see out of them at night also.
Scott Fix: Ranging anywhere from $70-90ish, it has ACS (Air Control System) which means you wont be getting any fog in these goggles. Also has 100% UV Ray protection.
Also this years Spy stuff is lookin good, like always.
And always remember to sag your Goddam goggles, please.
