So is black ops better than MW2? Contemplating buying.

Everyone I know has black ops, but I've heard some mixed reviews. Is it really that good? usually treyarch makes shitty games and "the feel" just isn't as accurate as IW games like mw2. Should I buy black ops? I'm excellent at mw2, so you guys decide for me. Convince me one way or another, maybe some brief reviews.

Yes, it's way better, there is no one man army, no danger close, no commando, no nukes or EMPs, no quickscoping, and as far as I know, a lot less camping. I fucking love it so far

i agree, however you shouldn't diss quickscoping. Its fucking hard and takes a lot of skill.

Anyone who can kill it running around with a sniper rifle deserves props.

If you're ''good'' at MW2 in the sense that you run around with a noobtube or camp to get your 5, 7, 11 killstreaks instead of actually playing you'll hate it. Black Ops is a much more balanced game. No stupid perk combos, or blatantly OP killstreaks. And no you can't camp, the maps are smaller and you can get flanked on mostly all of them.

Overall it's a much better game. I just wish they showed more love for snipers and shotguns but those are my only complaints.

Yeah, I know what you mean, but it pissed me off that whenever I went into a search and destroy game, it would be filled with quickscopers, there were way too many

my gamestyle is running around with the m4ai, so I'm sure I 'd be good at this game...but really gay there's no sniping. Sounds like they really inhibited alot of the apects that made modern warfare how dope it was. still vascilating this purchase.

it is not hard and takes no skill....MW2 snipers have an auto aim where if you quickly bring the scope up the cross hairs move to the target you are going up against. If you don't believe me I'll throw in MW2 and do a match with ya, just to show you that a guy who never does it can do it.


I still do not understand how people think MW2 was such a great game....did you guys not play CoD4 at all?...it's like that game never existed, Black Ops is better than MW2...but they can not compare to CoD4...Infinity Ward did so great with CoD4 then shit the bucket with MW2

Terrible game feel and the graphics are too cartoony and vivid for me. However i like a lot of features and all my friends have it.

I have played all of the call of duty games for years now.. since the start of them. and there were some i liked and some i havent.
I played MLG on both Modern warfares. And i personally think they are just a much better and higher quality game. Black ops is ok i just didnt like what they were getting at. I already want to sell my black ops.

And plus they just gave the go ahead for Modern Warfare 3 to come out towards the end of 2011.
So that game will probably trump all.

honestly i love this game, the killstreaks are actually given to the more skillfull players instead of mw2 where you can just go to every killstreak using one killstreak, that was pretty dumb. and i don't really understand the "cartoony" aspect people are talking about, sure the graphics are not as good as MW2 but who gives a fuck, the gameplay is alot better.

I personally think its a sick game. A lot less campers, have only been noob tubed a few times and even then you can counter with flak jacket. My only complaint is taking out the quickscoping aspect, that shit took skill.

you know how it is, theyre all super similar besides a few tweaks and differences. the game is fun as hell and they took care of some of the overt problems in the last one

you know what youre buying. if you think a cold war version of mw2 with less reliance on kill streak sounds fun, get it for sure. ive been loving it and there is a lot of stuff to do, campaign and zombies i havent even touched yet, and the multiplayer will last me a loong time. also, split screen online!

I would say get it if you want a switch up from mw2. However, nothing will beat mw2. That game is just way too sick. The story for the campaign of black ops is supposed to be sick but I have only played it on live. Definitely did not like it as much. Its just different.

Ok yea regardless even if he is a douchebag he makes good games.. yea the hacking was a little bit of a problem but all in all the game is much better..

and as of now they dont know who is going to make it, half of infinity ward was fired along with the CEO.
No matter what happens who makes it its going to be a lot like modern warfare and mw2. Just better.
They might rebuild infinity wards staff. But who knows

i've never been able to explain the 'feel' that black ops and waw have that mw2 and cod4 have much better, but i agree with you. it just seems fake, everything completely fake. mw2 just felt more like you were actually fighting people. i don't know how IW does it but their games feel much better than treyarch eventhough treyarch's may have better graphics and a more gritty storyline

I just quoted you in the other black ops thread...

but I know exactly what you mean. the guns/players have such awful detail and seem really cartoon-like. The maps aren't nearly as detailed as MW2, and the game just doesn't function with the same clarity and precision as MW2.

oh, and the WA2000 blows. i'm all for skill-required sniping, but come one. there's no way it should take 4 shots from the WA to kill. fuck. /rant

The only reason anyone should get black ops is for the zombies. The multiplayer is ok and the campaign sucks but zombies are awesome.

the only reason i am contemplating purchasing this game is due to the fact that they brought back dedicated servers for the PC. mw2 almost single handedly killed the competitive scene on cod

I can't believe it, MW2 sucked....CoD4 rocked the house.

The only good thing about MW2 were some of the maps.

Run down was the worst though.
"Oh hi guys, got a sweet idea for a map, We are going to have a stream of water through the middle, and 3 bridges and those 3 bridges are the only way across, that way you can sit in a building on your spawn side of the bridge and just shoot people that try to run across"



But seriously, CoD4 made MW2 possible. If you removed Juggernaut and Stopping Power it would be great...but even with those two there was still balance.

You only had UAV, Air Strike, Helicopter.

Sick ass maps, bog, downpoor, showdown, shimpment, overgrown, wetwork, bloc, ambush, strike, vacant.

I never see 10th prestige as anything else besides the Gold Cross....those emblems were way better in CoD4...I don't know I guess CoD4 was legit because it was original it was something new. Now they just keep trying to add a couple of slight modifications when really all they need to do is go back to what they did in the first place.

The game itself is amazing... the online beats mw2 by a landslide, more personalization, less overpowering, and less camping... my only complaint is those fucking RC cars, it makes the game a hell of a lot less realistic when everybody is racing around remote control cars on a battlefield trying to blow each other up. but i would say go ahead in buy it, its definitely worth it.

I've never been a fan of the call of duty games on consoles. The whole run and gun style of play is not my thing. I've always played Battlefield 2 on my PC and "camping" is how you don't get killed. I've never understood the logic behind someone getting mad at you if you have control over a spot that gives you great coverage and a vantage point to pick people off.  Sorry if I don't feel like running out in the open so you can shoot me. Spawn camping is one time that I do understand when somone can get mad.

I hate camping, but most of the time people complain about people "camping" when they are not. Camping is sitting and watching a door for the whole game, setting up claymores and not even attempting to play the game. Patience is getting to strategic positions and getting kills then moving on.



Also I will trade black ops for Battlefield BC 3 or assassins creed brotherhood. Hit me up if interested.

your missing the whole point. On the PC there is 64 players. that is 32 per side.  if you are defending a spawn point why would want to run out in the open and get killed. there are enough teammates that some of them can be on the attacking end and others on the defensive end. I'm not talking ish about run & gun, just saying it's not my style of play.
