right now i'm about halfway through guns, germs, and steel by jared diamond and it's quite phenomenal! it's about the true root of all racial equalities from the beginning of history, and exactly how white europeans came to pwn most other indigenous cultures. jared diamond spent thirty years of his life devoted towards writing this novel and it really shows. the title, guns, germs, and steel is are the three most basic and surface levels of how white invaders eliminated cultures like the native americans, aboriginal australians and others.
i've also started reading a short history of nearly everything by bill bryson. i found a torrent of the audiobook of this and i listened to the introductory chapter and knew i absolutely needed it. if this book doesn't give you an appreciation for science i really don't know what will. it starts off at the big bang and works its way up to present day, i really can't do this book justice by describing it here, i'll see if i can upload the audiobook, maybe just the intro as a tease, and it will get you far more stoked than i could ever express in a short paragraph in an internet forum!
