Opposite of a Flat 3 = a Round 3...?

Okay, so I was watching X-Games Classics (the 2007 summer games) last night. BMX park was happening and there was this guy throwing frontflips over a spine on his bike. That's already super cool, but what really was amazing was the fact that he was "corking" his frontflips. In skiing, a flat 3 is essentially a corked backflip (corked to the side). So, this BMXer was doing the opposite of a flat 3 (a corked frontflip). Do you think that it is possible to do a "round 3" on skis?

Sure. They're really easy, just try to spot your landing to the side of your body as early as you can. Mike Wilson used to throw them all the time.

^ no because bio is opposite of a cork this would be different and your feet at one poin would be higher than your head

i'll have to respectfully disagree, simply because bio is a non-inverted spin thrown forward, whereas flat is a non-inverted spin thrown backwards.

has anyone ever played amped 3? i feel like the kookspin is basically a "round 3"

thats just an off axis backflip, it was not a flat 3, most people cannot do a true flat 3 with the expection of pollard mahre tanner etc.

well a spring roll is the opposite of an egg roll.... and an egg roll is mildly like a flat 3. so is that what you are talking about? some people do them in like mogul comps and shit. SO hard though ha.

the opposite of a flat 3 would be like your facing the ground instead of the air in the lincolnish thing.

People don't really know what flat spins are anymore.


a "cork backflip" (like what is being described) = wackflip.

a flat 3 doesn't really get that inverted.

Look at B-paul's (paul bergenon's) KOS edit. He has a couple kang flips and a couple true flat 3 to flat 5s. that's the best example of a real flat 3 I have seen in a long time.

As well as in a flat three at some point you should actually be spinning, so your body will not be in the same direction the entire way around like in a cork back flip.

JIMMY GREENLEAF IS THE FUCKING MAN. Seriously the best flat 3 in the game...this video is the same trick, different angle. You can really tell how much he carves it from the Montage vid though.

And.... Why would the only people who can do flat 3's be restricted to Pro's.

There are hundreds if not thousands of people around the world throwing inverts the level of skiing anywhere is just insane these days. To generalize and say something like that ^ is just plain dumb.

It depends how much spin would be in the flip to differentiate between bio, misty, or a round flip lol
Egg rolls are a snowboarding thing...

And really how much value does it have placing a name on a trick? If it's sick it's sick...

Here's a flat 3.

@ 1:30

The other ones in the video are more whack flip style, not true flat 3's. A flat 3 is NOT an off axis backflip.

For flats i just visualize them in a pipe cuz thats the true style

100% this. I was beginning to think I was the only one who knew how flats were thrown.

A RODEO 3/ WACKFLIP ≠ FLAT 3

A flat spin is a completely different axis than a normal spin. It's the same axis as a lincoln, just tilted back. It's basically spinning like your back is on the ground the entire time.

and a flat 3 is not a "corked backflip" it is supposed to be a flat rotation where your feet go around the side. Hence the term "flatspin".
