My two friends and i were at the dew tour and all the riders were chilling at the bottom after practicin and we talked to sammy a little then, but we couldnt see much of the run and they wouldnt let us hike up the slopestyle run so we decided to hike up the trail to the side which had a park open to anyone. on the way up wallisch came down filming on this flat down and we got the chance to talk to him for a little bit which was awesome because he is the nicest guy. we then hiked all the way to the top and cut over to the trail that the slopestyle on and had to convince one of the mount snow guys to let us at least watch from the starting point but we couldnt go beyond that. once at the starting house the mount snow ambassador people wouldnt let us beyond that. Sammy then came up the the start and was just like let the boys through knowing we hiked all they way up and then would have to hike back down for nothing. He told the mount snow person that he has skied all over the world and would be embarrassed to be wearing a mount snow jacket and that he gave them permission to let us through on the coarse, and they let us through because we were a "competitors friend" so we got to watch the whole slopestyle even from on the coarse about 5 feet away from each feature, we mostly stayed at the cannon box though. It was possibly one of the greatest thing ever.

sparknotes: hiked all the way up to the top of the trail slopestyle was on and they wouldnt let us threw until sammy came around and gave use permission to go on the slopestyle coarse

Before Sammy went up for a slope run, I watched him run up to a little kid and talk to him for a minute, and then trade one ski pole for one ski pole. I don't know if there are any pictures of it, but he took a run with one of his own poles and little (similar sized) white pole. So sick

Yeah, I love Sammy. He's just pumped on skiing and life in general all the time. In whistler this summer he was just always smiling and he'd often come by me and hit my pole with his and just make that noise he always makes when he's happy. Of course always with a smile on his face

i've heard mixed things about sammy...some say hes a really nice guy, but others say hes a total dick...i met him at the dew tour also he seemed liek a nice guy, but colby west hates on him...aolt

.Sammy is just sammy just like colby is colby.


They are two different people but att he same time they arepretty much alike.


I wouldnt live with any of them for more then a week without freaking out but yea they are really cool cats to talk with and they are both so stoked on skiing.   It all comes down to chemistry between people

ya i talked to him at triple threat for like 5 minutes when the line was held up (triple threat is a ski movie premiere in case you didnt know) anyway he talked to us about JOSS and stuff and he is just super stoked on life all the time. such a happy guy. brings a good vibe to every situation

I think that the reason Sammy is viewed as a dick by some people is because he assumes authority that is not rightly fully his (aka power-tripping)

For instance: there are security personel at the dew tour guarding the start gate so that spectators are not allowed inside to disturb athletes and media, and sammy thinks he has the authority to over-rule that. And don't get me wrong, I think that athletes should be treatment with the ut-most respect, but not if there dis-respecting like sammy did to those guys in the mt snow jackets. Because that puts a bad name out for our sport because just how you guys are giving him props for that, the mount snow guys are probably talking shit to all their homies about it, which is counter-productive for the future of competitions because athlets are pissing off the people who are helping put on our events

Yeah for sure about Sammy always smiling and having a good time.  he and TJ were riding the park at Northstar at the last Dew Tour stop when i was there and they were both suuper nice to talk to.  Gotta give more props to Colby West though.  And of the ones I met Bobby Brown was probably the nicest, but he was always riding alone, while Sammy and TJ were with a huuuge crew both days before the competitions.
