SEATTLE, Wash. (May 25, 2016) – Seattle-based action sports and outdoor retailer evo announced the purchase today of Denver, Colorado businesses Edgeworks and The Bicycle Doctor. Joining forces to expand in Colorado connects evo’s ecommerce and retail innovation with Edgeworks’ local convenience, service, and expertise. The partnership between evo and Edgeworks will provide Colorado skiers, snowboarders, mountain bikers, and cyclists with an enhanced retail experience to shop online or in store, pick up orders for free, streamline service work, and get exceptional guidance in purchasing or servicing their gear.
Edgeworks and The Bicycle Doctor owner Matt Hupperts and his team are renowned in Colorado for exceptional ski, snowboard, and bike service, operating the companion businesses out of their Broadway shop location year-round. With over 25 years providing service to the Denver, Colorado market, Hupperts and his team have made an incredible impact with the ski, snowboard, and bicycle communities through their expertise. evo’s unique approach to multi-channel retail and local service partners, coupled with a shared belief and mission in providing access and enrichment through sport for underserved youth, make this alliance an ideal fit.
“Growing our reach and creating community-focused experiences is central to where we are taking evo, and we are grateful to have this opportunity to partner with Matt,” says Bryce Phillips, evo Founder and CEO. “He has a great team with an exceptional reputation, and we have a shared commitment to doing something special in the Denver market together. Professionally and personally, this is exciting for me given a strong, lifelong connection to Colorado – my mom grew up in Allenspark, CO and my wife’s family lives in Denver – and we have long looked at how evo could be more involved in the state. From all perspectives, I could not be happier about this big step forward for evo.”
The current Edgeworks and Bicycle Doctor location will continue to provide ski, snowboard, and bicycle rentals, service, and repair from the shop at 860 Broadway in Denver, CO. The evo and Edgeworks/Bicycle Doctor teams will partner later this summer to renovate the space and open a new evo retail and service storefront in fall 2016 that brings evo to the Colorado market and showcases the service-first focus and 25-plus-years of experience of Hupperts and his team.
“We are very excited to work with evo,” says Matt Hupperts, owner of Edgeworks and The Bicycle Doctor. “From ecommerce to store locations, evo brings so much to the retail platform. Working together we can build on our vision of service, rental, and demo to complete that experience at an even greater level.”
The partnership with Edgeworks/The Bicycle Doctor follows the introduction earlier this year of evo’s La Familia program, which provides streamlined service and free local delivery in partnership with independent specialty retailers around the country. Creating new possibilities for renowned service and expertise – whether online or in person – the collaboration is another big step in an exciting new era for Edgeworks/Bicycle Doctor and evo in their passionate pursuit of service, expertise, community, and culture.
