With snowmaking season and winter just around the corner, Pennsylvania resorts Camelback Mountain and Blue Mountain have been added to Ikon Pass for the 2023-2024 season. As the first mountains on the pass in Pennsylvania, this raises competition between them and Vail Resorts, who currently owns 7 resorts in the state, including Seven Springs and Roundtop.
For skiers seeking resorts near New York City and Philadelphia, both Pocono Mountain resorts are within a two-hour drive, making them more appealing day trip options than Killington or Stratton, the next closest Ikon resorts in southern Vermont.
Camelback Resort is the largest ski mountain in the Poconos and offers 166 acres of skiable terrain. The resort is known for hosting a wide variety of terrain, and its ideal environment for beginners. Blue Mountain Resort boasts the state’s highest vertical and one of the largest snowmaking systems on the East Coast, providing the longest ski season in the Poconos.
Skiers who purchase a full Ikon Pass will receive 7 days of skiing at each resort, and 5 days at each resort with the lower-priced Ikon Base Pass.
Private Company KSL Capital of Denver owns both mountains. KSL is also an owner of Alterra Mountain Co.
