In conjunction with The House, we're extremely excited to announce the biggest contest in the history of Newschoolers...The Best Skier On The Internet!
Beginning today, The Best Skier On The Internet Contest will be running all winter long in an effort to allow you, the Newschoolers community, to determine just who is the best skier on the internet. The contest itself will be video-based, and will feature seven rounds, where we're asking any and all skiers (whether you're pro, am, flow, unsponsored or completely unknown) to upload videos of your best skiing in each specific category (and please keep in mind that you can use footage from last winter if you want).
The categories themselves will encompass all aspects of freeskiing, including Backyard Jib Jam, Urban Rails, Park Rails, Park Jumps, Backcountry/Big Mountain, Halfpipe and Slopestyle, so you can see who the most well-rounded skier is. Here's the details and dates for each round...

Each round will be three weeks long, with a two-week upload period and one-week public voting period, and throughout the course of the contest the Newschoolers staff will be keeping track of everyone's average ratings from each round.
In order to be eligible to win The Best Skier On The Internet contest, you NEED to enter at least 5 of the 7 rounds (and you're only allowed to enter once per category), as this contest is all about how well-rounded and consistent of a skier you are, and will run in the same way as the Association of Freeskiing Professionals (AFP) uses to crown their champions, where only your 5 best results (in this case, your 5 highest average ratings) will count. So the more rounds you enter, the better chance you'll have at winning! Then at the end of the contest, we'll tally up everyone's 5 highest average ratings out of the 7 rounds, and the contestant with the highest score will be awarded the title of The Best Skier On The Internet on March 27th, 2012!
Here's what you'll win...
And now on to the good part…what you can win! In addition to the supreme bragging rights you’ll be entitled to by being crowned The Best Skier On The Internet by skiing's online community, the winner will receive a full gear setup (skis, boots, bindings, poles, jacket, pants, goggles and helmet) courtesy of The House, along with a pre-qualified spot for both slopestyle and halfpipe at the AFP World Championships during the Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival in April in Whistler, BC, courtesy of our good friends at AFP!
This contest begins today with the first round, Backyard Jib Jam, so start getting your entries in now by clicking here...because remember, you need to enter 5 of the 7 rounds in order to win, so the more rounds you enter, the better chance you’ll have at becoming The Best Skier On The Internet!
On behalf of everyone at Newschoolers, The House and AFP, good luck to everyone who is planning on entering!
