Thredbo, one of Australia's most well-known ski resorts concluded spinning their lifts for the season on September 19th, 2023. This comes about two weeks earlier than last year when the resort ended the season on October 4th.
In an Instagram post earlier this week the resort wrote:
"Well the time has come and we are officially wrapping up skiing and snowboarding for winter 2023 two weeks earlier than expected🤍⛄️Mother Nature may have kept us on our toes but we had a LOT of magical times this season!"
The beginning of the season also arrived late in New South Wales, when Thredbo pushed their opening day back 10 days to the 20th of June due to lack of snow. Thredbo will kick off its summer season on November 18th.
While several other resorts have ceased operations for the season, neighboring ski area Perisher, Australia's largest resort remains open. This past winter was reportedly Australia's warmest on record.
