The Royal Elk Glades at Beaver Creek are one of my favorite places to go in Colorado on a powder day. In fact, my little welcome video on the top right of my page was actually recorded back there. There is just so much varied terrain and on a powder day you can spend the whole day just finding stashes of untracked snow. From the top of Grouse Mountain, they require a bit of a traverse through the trees, but it’s totally worth it when the glades open up to fresh pow. They do require going through a gate, so be prepared and be sure to have a plan if you lose track of anyone in the trees (I speak from experience, everyone in our party was safe, but it reminded us it’s important to have a plan if you get split up).
Check out this cool video that Beaver Creek put together to announce the opening (the good ski shots are towards the end).
