Things got off to a rowdy start yesterday as Newschoolers and Windells welcomed 90 freeskiers of all ages to camp for a week of shredding and shenanigans. Inside the skate compound for orientation, things got rolling with highfives and sticker tosses before the infamous Drama Llama made an appearance on stage to truly ring in the Newschoolers week. Nothing says “summer camp” like a giant sweaty animal waving at your kids!

We’re stoked as hell for everything going down these next seven days, and the whole NS crew is here to showcase the radness. Gavin Rudy will be shooting video all week; along with Aaron Lu and Matt Kretzchmar, who will keep you up to date with the fun via social media. And Newschoolers program heads Jamie Walter and Sam Turner will provide all the written and visual content you could need. We’ve also brought along POV king Sander Hadley, Superunknown XI Semi-Finalist Brent Whipple and the Tabarnak Pack’s Dom Laporte to join the stellar crew of Windells regulars to shred this week. Come rain or shine, they’ll be lapping the park every day, throwing down and providing pointers for the campers who have made the trip to Hood.

Despite a long couple days for some of us – Krotch, in from Minneapolis, spent approximately 47 hours crawling by train across the Western United States to Portland and Travis got hung up entering the country when a customs officer decided it was time to fulfill his quota – whether by train, plane or automobile and regardless of travel hang-ups, we’re here and we’re ready to kick off the raddest week of the summer.
