This year, with the awards going fully virtual (shout out to Swany Gloves @ON3P & @Windells for making these awards possible), we are taking the opportunity to shed some clarity on what each award means, and the judging process. Trick of the Year is voted by you guys, so no judging was required but even pulling together the shortlist brings about a lot of head scratching.

Comparing street clips to pow, deciding what's gnarlier, or comparing 'death factor' to technicality, it's tough to make the calls. In the end we whittled things down to a pretty well-rounded list, or at least we think so, but feel free to tell us we're wrong and know nothing, you usually do.

Megan Oldham and Anni Karava held it down with a world-first and a gnarly street clip respectively. We had the creativity and vision of Mango and the backcountry madness from Colby Stevenson & Vinzenz Keller. But this was a year of crazy street footage, and we could have been pulling half of the clips from Forre 2 & What's For Breakfast if we hadn't wanted to give a more varied selection. Joel Magnusson alone could have had 3 nominations of his own. In the end though, it came down to your votes, and for once, we think you got it right.

The 2023 Trick Of The Year goes to the one and only Keegan Kilbride for his ridiculously high-consequence ender. High risk, high reward, this was an absolutely wild clip that had us surgically removing our jaws from the floor.

Congrats Keegan, you earned it!

... and we're glad you didn't die
