We held off on posting this one, because we didn't want to skew the outcome of the poll. However, now that it's over we're stoked to announce that two of our nearest and dearest, Jamie Walter and Carter Edwards, made up the final two in the snow category of Ikon's photo awards. It was a neck and neck vote with Carter narrowly taking the W in a closely fought poll. But we wanted to give a shout out to both of our boys, who are absolutely crushing it behind the lens.

Jamie Walter @1337 was the NS photo editor for years (and technically probably is still an editor-at-large,, whatever that means). He's one of the OGs of this site and is now crushing the production game, running his own studio out East in his native Maine. His photo, captured during the total eclipse as it passed over his home hill of Sugarloaf and featuring his brother @little1337 is quite literally a once in a lifetime shot.

Check out Jamie's portfolio and site HERE and don't forget to sign up to his mailing list for some amazing content from around the East Coast.

Carter Edwards @cedwards is a young gun on the scene and has been working closely with NS in the past couple of seasons. A staff photographer at @sunshinevillage , he was one of two photographers documenting our Gear Week over there and he also recently babysat @curt_ at Windells to make sure we he continued to be allowed into the good ol' USA. The result was a banger edit and a whole raft of great photos.

His winning photo comes as a result of a whole chunk of NS fam, with Sunshine Village legends Kendra and Arney making it possible for Carter to shoot with Mark Valtr @4west during the Aurora Borealis event this part season. For the budding photographers out there, the sun is experiencing a period of particularly intense solar storm activity this year, so keep an eye on the aurora forecasts and you might be able to grab a banger photo like this one.

Check out more of Carter's work HERE.

We're also hoping to bring you an improved photo section in the coming months, so keep uploading your shots to the site, along with videos and articles. It's worth noting that everyone we've ever hired has been pulled directly from this community, so by posting, you are also shooting your shot. - Twig
