To keep a freestyle ski contest running for 13 years is a massive accomplishment in an industry that morphs and changes faster than the park sets at Midwest resorts. Steve Janisch, Pinewski’s, and their long running event Master Shredder returned amid a strange and snowless winter to bring the hype. Even with plentiful heat waves and melting snow, the medium sized set at Trollhaugen was able to carry the giant team on its back for an absolute banger day. On Saturday March 10, some of the Midwest’s best skiers took to Tomte to answer the age old question once again: Who will be the Master Shredder and take home $1,000 in cold cash?!

The 13th edition of Master Shredder radiated with immaculate vibes. While the features may have been smaller compared to previous years, the level of tricks certainly were not. Just in past years, the competition unfolded in three heated rounds. Athletes go against each other, wanting not only bragging rights amongst their peers but also the chance for a $1000 cash prize. Athletes from all over came to Master Shredder. Even competitors coming from Michigan to become the next Master Shredder Champion. The Midwest serves as a place for incredibly talented skiers to hone their skills. Those who have grown up on the rope tow know how to lace some of the most out of pocket tricks. Regardless of the difficulty or skill level, every rider was pushing their limits and throwing down in style.
In an unexpected turn of events, Master Shredder witnessed an extraordinary showdown between Faelan Coldwater and Caleb Goodwin, both showcased their exceptional ski abilities. Advancing past the finals, they engaged in a thrilling ski-off, unleashing their best runs over three intense rounds.
