Sunshine Village, nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, recently hosted its third annual Newschoolers King and Queen of the Park event, showcasing the remarkable talent and creativity of the riders who frequent our home-from-home resort.
Newschoolers King and Queen of the Park gives those skiers lapping the park day in, and day out a chance to show off their finest moments of the season. This year's edition brought out the most stacked field to date, and the varied parks at Sunshine Village provided the perfect canvas for the athletes to display their skills. The park's creative features and of course, the new Newschoolers S-Rail, allowed for a swathe of banger clips and our judges had their work cut out.
Ultimately, this one was decided, as has been the case in recent editions of KQOP, by the viewer votes. Several riders on both the men's and women's side were in with a shot after the judging round and it was your votes that swayed things. On the men's side it was the serious turnout for Zach Fillier @zach.fillier that sealed the deal for him, and he'll be taking a cool $1000 with him into the summer months.

In the women's category, the title of Newschoolers Queen of the Park goes to Emily Lucas @emluuxas . The margins involved here were minuscule. It was so close, in fact, that our automated system, which only counts to two decimal places awarded Em and Elena Paskevich the same score. We had to go back through the data manually and work things out down to the third decimal, finding that Em took the win with ever so slightly better average judges' scores.

We want to give a huge thank you to @sunshinevillage and all the riders who took part again this year. The entries were the best we've ever had and we are so stoked you all got involved. We hope to see you all on the slopes and we already can't wait to see what you throw down for next year's event.
