Jiberish needs no introduction, their edits, clothing and culture have cemented themselves in the annals of ski history. Their latest release, an outerwear combo, brings form and functionality, on and off hill in the case of the jacket. Drawing from streetwear inspirations while maintaining classic ski silhouettes. The Traverse 3L shell jacket and Basalt 2L insulated pants drop 10 years after Jiberish’s first foray into outerwear.

During the 14/15 season Jiberish released the Grand Cru line in collaboration with designer Miranda Podmore. The capsule collection drew inspiration from streetwear fashion of the 80s and 90s; football casuals and mods, think Stone Island and the Gallaghers. These styles were combined with the technical features required for harsh mountain environments and crafted with high quality materials sourced from Japan and Switzerland. Jiberish’s first foray into the world of outerwear.

Returning to the present day, Jiberish decided to bring back outerwear with a renewed focus on outdoor functionality, releasing their first outerwear line in nine years last season with a jacket and pant combo. It hit the nail on the head in many aspects but naturally, Jiberish wanted to build on the success from last season and incorporate athlete feedback into this year’s outerwear collection and keep improving the form and functionality of these flagship pieces.

This season’s two-piece collection brings a technical 3L shell in combination with a 2L insulated pant. Though it does not lean as far into the streetwear aesthetic as the Grand Cru release the designers have still maintained bold lines, functional details and versatility.

The fabrics used for this year’s design are heavier weight, for increased durability and weatherproofing across the jacket and pants. With tweaked fitment so you can keep the bagginess without your pants falling down and revamped pockets for extra storage.

The outerwear was designed and built with the athletes in mind, their involvement in the process crucial. Benni Harrington (AKA @yvng_benni) says;

"This is hands down my favorite outerwear kit I’ve worn. Perfect for year round, good waterproofing and works either shredding pow or cruiser park laps. Big shouts out to the whole crew at Jib for taking athlete opinions into consideration and creating the best outerwear in the biz."

It’s clear why this has already been a hit with the team, the black and purple colorways keep things simple and understated but there’s a pop of colour for those that want it. Highlight features include fully taped seams, 20k/20k waterproofing/breathability in the jacket (15k/15k in the pants), 11 pockets across the combo and cinch bottoms on the pants (Benni’s favorite feature).

We are sure this one is going to fly off the shelves…

Alongside the outerwear drop is a hole pile of other awesome merch so don't forget to check out the full line!
