It’s an incredible thing when it happens, when a single storm drops enough snow to blanket our mountains with over three feet of new snow. The mountain goes from virtually unskiable, except for the snow blown on the groomers, to completely buried overnight. The transformation isn’t only on the mountain; it hits the people just the same. How quickly people’s moods turn from sour and discontented to stoked and full of energy. You can see it in people’s faces as the pale cheeks of fall turn quickly into rosy windburn cheeks of winter. As good as the skiing is right now, there is no better time to get out and enjoy some excellent early season turns.
