Hi Newschoolers folks. It’s been a minute. I spent last winter working a real big kid job, and dealing with a torn up knee. But, I’m back, with comics!

Over a decade ago Newschoolers was my introduction to the ski industry. Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to work at a few outlets, but the vast majority of my freelancing has happened here, at NS. From 2020 through 2023 I drew one comic or piece of art for NS every Sunday, and wrote an article every Wednesday or Thursday through the winter.

I loved writing and drawing for this audience. You all get joy out of the aspects of skiing that I love the most. And you’re always quick to engage in the comments section. That consistency of weekly content, coupled with such an accessible group of readers kept me stoked to come up with something worth drawing and saying every week. Thank you!

Twig and Zorko gave me an absurd amount of editorial leeway to get weird with it, say whatever I wanted, and learn from my mistakes. They also gave me the financial security to not work a “real job” and instead draw the things I love to do. Thank you so much gents!

While the trajectory of my life has led me away from doodling skiing every week, I wanted to put all of my favorite ski work in one place. So I made this book. It’s got all my favorite comics, for NS, and for other outlets, a couple of articles that I enjoyed writing for NS, and some of my favorite photos I’ve taken.

Building this book was a process, I went deep, through old work that I’d forgotten existed. And the final product ended up being kinda large. So the book is hardcover, 6”x9” with 152 pages.

It’s available now, if you want to read it. I hope you like it!

Winter is here. My opening day is Wednesday and I can’t wait! I hope you have a great winter. I won’t be drawing for NS this winter, but I’ll think about this site and its people every time I slip my goggle band under my helmet, and try to afterbang every hit.
