Home Mountain: Wachusett Mountain, MA
Wachusett Mountain, a small mountain in Northern Massachusetts. I love this mountain. It is the mountain I learned to snowboard on; it is the mountain that took my breath away. The first time I went snowboarding was in 7th grade. I remember getting on the chair lift at Wachusetts and having my whole world change right before my eyes. Just being able to see the natural wonders of the untouched snow resting on the branches of the trees, feeling the cool fog dampen your face and give you goosebumps as you?re rising to the top, and then finally reaching the top and looking down at the untouched, natural, perfect, landscape. This breath-taking sight felt as if I was at the top of the world. Wachusett Mountain was the first mountain that I have ever snowboarded on; it changed my world.
Now, six years later, I am a snowboard fanatic. I eat, breath, study, and sleep snowboarding. If I?m not shredding the gnar, I wear snowboarding companies gear such as Burton and Oakley, study different tricks, learn about all the snowboarders, and tag different things such as my computer and phones wallpaper. I?ve been to so many different mountains, but Wachusetts will always have the number one spot in my heart. The famous quote, ?love at first sight? is fairly true in my case. Wachusett Mountain was my first sight of a snowboarding resort and I truly fell in love.
Wachusett Mountain gave me my first unique adrenaline rush that runs throughout my body that I will never forget. As I feel the wind pushing against my whole body and the cold snow touching my face when I?m riding down the mountain, my adrenaline peaks. It is a remarkable feeling that is indescribable. Many people say you have to experience to know it. This adrenaline I felt as I rode down Wachusetts for the first time fits that criteria. This adrenaline rush gives me the determination to excel in the sport and pushes me to ?go big or go home.? Wachusetts was the very first mountain that left me with this indescribable feeling of adrenaline running through my veins.
I love Wachusett Mountain because it was the very first mountain I have ever snowboarded on. It is the mountain that changed my life. Because of Wachusetts, I have become a snowboard fanatic, learned the art of snowboarding inside and out, learned and talked to so many influential people in the snowboarding world, and my life has also changed for the greener! Learning about Olympic snowboarder Gretchen Bleiler, I became active in her 21 Day Reusable Challenge and became a greener person. If it wasn?t for Wachusett Mountain for giving me my first experience snowboarding that I fell completely in love with, I wouldn?t be the person I am today.
