Freeskiing is totally insane right now. Love or hate the direction of freeskiing right now, the breadth of talent is the greatest it has ever been. Every year we see new names come through and raise the bar, and yesterday's qualifying saw Daniel Bacher and Dylan Deschamps doing just that, taking the competition to the established big names of Big Air. And there were certainly flashes of creativity as the qualis were brought forward to try and avoid today's forecast bad weather.

There was lots of new blood on display in the women's qualifying too with Michelle Rageth, Flora Tabanelli & Kateryna Kotsar making a big statement ahead of the season, qualifying for finals and stomping some big tricks. But the 'old' guard are still going strong, with Swiss trio Sarah Hoefflin, Giulia Tanno, and Mathilde Gremaud firing up the crowd and once again making the cut.

One of, if not the, highlight for us had to be the return to the finals start list of Elias Syrja. With the injuries he has had, it's mind-boggling to see him jumping on scaffolding again. The creativity of Dani Bacher and insane talent of Dylan Deschamps also set the skis of Switzerland alight.

Finals day, unfortunately, saw wind and driving rain, with event organizers forced to pull the plug on finals and carry the results from the semi-finals forward. It's never a good way for a comp to end, but did lead to some new medalists on the men's side. And at least nobody had to dig up a glacier to make this one happen, scaffolding has its benefits I guess.
