Sunny skies above the pipe greeted the athletes at Dew Tour today at Copper Mountain, and it made for a good show all around. It's hard to say much new about pipe, it's pipe. But it has been cool to see some more unique takes on pipe skiing this season and the riders were holding nothing back for Dew Tour. Aaron Blunck wasn't feeling 100% so decided to skip it and Nico Porteous is at Slvsh Cup, and that gave a couple of young guns the chance to show what they've got, which is always cool to see.

Run 1:
Tristan Feinberg opened proceedings but came a cropper on a down the pipe dub 9. Nick Goepper stomped a huge run right off the bat, with a switch dub 10, back to back dub 12s and a switch bone roll for 87.66. Jon Sallinen put one down too, but by his standards it was pretty mellow with two dub 12s and a switch dub 10 of his own. Hunter Hess opened with his sick switch cork 5 tweaked safety but couldn't put it down. Alex Ferreira stomped, it was a touch wild but the tricks were hard to top. Both dub 16s and two on axis 10s (forward and switch) were sick and he set the bar at 92.66. Andrew Longino almost died with a switch edge catch but somehow sorted it out and still stomped his switch 7. Brendan Mackay put down four dubs in a row, with the opening switch alleyoop dub 9 the highlight. Enough for 90, just needed to step up the final hit 9er.

Run 2:
It's tough to change up your run in pipe, so Tristan Feinberg threw down more of the same, but stomped his final hit at the second time of asking. Goepper put down more of the same too, but tidied things up a bit grab wise and bumped up his amplitude too and it was enough to step up from 87 to 91s. Jon Sallinen also stepped up on both grabs and amplitude but it wasn't quite enough to get him on the provisional podium. Alex Ferreira cleaned it up too, somehow going even bigger and stomping way cleaner for a 94.33. The gap probably could have been bigger but damn it was a solid run. Andrew Longino cleaned up too but the run just didn't have the technicality of the top guys. Brendan Mackay stomped again but couldn't keep his speed totally consistent. First hit was one of the best of the day though.
Run 3:
The last chance saloon, run three didn't see huge changes to the provisional podium, but there were still some highlights. Tristan Feinberg sent a 16 but couldn't quite keep it together. Hunter Hess put it down at the final time of asking, dope switch cork 5 tweak, dope 'McTwist Mute' at the bottom. It wasn't enough for the podium but it was a beat of a run. Alex Ferreira threw an 18 but just washed out in the landing. The pipe was just too short for Brendan Mackay and he couldn't really do a perfect run. He stayed third though and leaving Goepper second (his best ever result in pipe) and Alex Ferreira with a perfect season, winning every single comp.
