Fresh off a dumping of over a foot of powder Mount Snow will be closing its featured park Nitro on Friday the 11th for a rebuild. With consistent snowmaking for eight days straight and the recent natural snowfall, Mount Snow’s elite park groomers will go into action Thursday night and all day Friday to build the high quality park its guests have grown accustomed to.
Several publications voted Carinthia as the east coasts number one park last season, including Transworld, SKI and SKIING magazines. The decision to turn Carinthia and its 100 acres of terrain into New England’s only all park mountain face came when Mount Snow was purchased by Peak Resorts. Carinthia has twelve parks, two pipes, a new twelve foot cliff drop, a lighted learning park and is host to the only east coast stop of the Winter Dew Tour, The Toyota Championships. Peak Resorts has consistently shown its dedication to freestyle skiing and riding at each of the eleven resorts they own.
By closing Nitro for a rebuild on Friday Mount Snow is sticking to their overall philosophy of the highest quality product for its customers. While other mountains opened with advanced terrain only or by downloading its guests, Mount Snow chose to wait until it had top to bottom terrain for skiers and riders of all ability levels. This is the same for its park rebuild, with constant snowmaking from its state of the art fan guns and 18 inches of natural snow thus far, there is enough snow to work with and build an early season dream park for east coast jibbers.
“It’s pretty simple, the less sleep I get the better our parks get for everyone else. And right now I’m pretty tired” said Ken Gaitor, Mount Snow’s Terrain Park Manager. Gaitor and crew have been working tirelessly to sculpt the terrain on Nitro all week in order to prep it for Friday’s build and ensure Carinthia opens on Saturday with roughly fifteen features, including several jumps.
