The 2nd annual B-Dog Off The Leash in Shawinigan's parc de la rivière Grand-Mère was a huge success.
An event made by a skier, for skiers and viewers. The street inspired setup was thought out and built in order to give plenty of options to the skiers. The practice followed by the 2 jams format allowed everyone to get comfortable with the setup and led to an awesome show where everybody thew down.

The run had 3 hits
1. a choice between a fire hydrant and a flat rail
2. a long flat rail
3. a choice between a down rail, a picnic table box, or a closeout ledge / drop
The course' speed was pretty tight and unforgiving if you messed up a feature, so many skiers ended up skipping a hit or 2 to gain maximum speed for the last features. Some were focused on lines, while others focused on one hit.

It was a gathering like none other in skiing today. The type of event reminiscent of the IF3 glory days in Montreal where everyone came to the Cinéma Impérial to celebrate and hang out together. Skiers of all ages, from all corners of Québec were there hyped to shred and grateful to B-dog for putting this on.

Freeski legends were everywhere. B-Dog himself was on the mic and making sure the event ran smoothly. JF Houle was on camera duty filming for the upcoming video recap. Alex Bellemare, Vincent Gagnier and Émile Bergeron were competing.

Shout out to Vinny Gagnier, still doing all the creative tricks we're used to seeing from him all day, especially jumping off the picnic table feature and landing in screamin' seamen.
Also shout out to Alex Bellemare, who despite not skiing much in the past 2 years, came out swinging making it into finals and reminding everyone of just how great he is. He did some of the most tech rail tricks of the day including a right 2 on pretz 4 and switch 2 on pretz 6 on the mid section flat rail that was surprisingly long and had many people fighting to even finish it.

Some other highlights from the afternoon jam included Tony Bilodeau doing a misty 5 over the picnic table, Anthony Patry doing a nosebutter 4 on the down rail, Alexis Fortin doing a 1 on 3 on mute on the picnic table, Mat Douf sliding the picnic table hopping to the side at the end into a back 4 out nose tap on the fence post. Style mentions to Frank GP, Fred Lavoie, Luca Natale and Félix Carrière flowing through the course.

The crowd was also awesome to see. Being in Shawinigan, the crowd seemed like a mix of freeski enthusiasts who came especially for the event and locals who took a walk to see what was going on. The great weather allowed for everyone to enjoy the show all day and witness what freeskiing is all about.

After 2 jam sessions of approx. 1 hour, 8 finalists were chosen for a final jam where the podium would be voted by their peers who didn't make into finals. The finalists included Mat Dufresne, Phil Langevin, Raf Diaz, Tom Galarneau, Edjoy, Olivia Asselin, Alex Bellemare and Phil Boily-Doucet.

The 45 minute finals jam was insane. All of the 8 finalists were more than ready to throw down and it showed.
Alex Bellemare did some tech wizardry but also went super big with a 180 tail tap to a fence post that was right in between the picnic table feature and the ledge close-out. Phil Boily-Doucet battled hard for lines including a sw 270 on pretz 270 out on the bike rack rail to sw tails on to sw on the down rail and sw 270 on back 270 out on the bike rack rail to lip 270 on the down rail. Phil Langevin threw down a perfect switch disaster 450 on to the down rail. Raf Diaz did some creative and stylish tricks as usual but didn't finish the jam due to injury (hope all is good Raf). Olivia had a couple dope tricks including a 270 on to the down rail. Edjoy was awesome to watch as he was flowing through the course like no other. His unique approach through the course led him to some pretty insane stuff on the last features including a backslide on the down rail, a sw tail butter 720 over the closeout ledge and a flip out of the picnic table

Mat Dufresne and Tom Galarneau were both on fire and clearly stood out as the top contenders of the day.
Mat did a disaster 450 on, 630 on and switch 450 on to the down rail, a handrag 360 over the picnic table and a zero over the closeout ledge. Tom G did a nollie misty 5 over the concrete ledge close-out as well as a zero popped with the tails, a misty 5 handrag over the picnic table and a cork 7 tail tap over the picnic table + a nose under 2on to backslide on the down rail.

Shout-out to Tom G who won an invite Apik in Mississauga, Ontario and gave it to Anthony "2tone_thony" Patry since he had already his spot for the event
