Apikfest Mississauga 2025, taking up a nice chunk of Celebration Square the set up was huge for a street jam. 2 sections, top with a Tokyo to down rail with a small transfer, next to it a flat down flat that was pretty much a huge donkey. Bottom section had a up rail, down rail, and battleship that you could also transfer from, to the down rail.
Format
Quick breakdown of the format, we have 2 60 minute jam heats. Scores are based on best run in 3 scored attempts. Skiers were allowed to call their lap otherwise they would be in a “practice"/unjudged run. The top 20 from the heats move on into the finals, 60 minute jam best trick. In the finals it’s the single best trick. Any rail goes, do your best. Top 6 of the finals move into the super final! Super final = 15 minute jam best trick wins.
Heats
Heats 1 and 2 were both packed with riders and tricks. Transfers, 3swaps, corks in, everyone was throwing down. Speed was giving some people issues for sure, but the snow removal crew was doing their best to keep everyone in the running! Some highlight tricks to name a couple, Jackson Karsteter threw a casual 2in front swap 2out to 3 swap on the battleship. Tony Patry laced up a 2in to backswap frontswap p2, Phil Langevin through a f3swap to backswap p2 taking top qualifiers spot. Unfortunately no replay of the heats, available to watch.

Finals
Finals started off smooth with a chill 4in from Kuura, Tom Wallisch started off with a 3swap p2 which might have been his first practice lap as he only scored on 2 runs. Jacob Belanger went backslide through the battleship, g as always. Snow started nuking and everyone’s was really pushing to get any speed from here on out. Jackson laced a 3swap c4 giving him an 89 and putting him in contention with Tom. Marion Balsamo was sooo close to putting down a backswap c4, Taylor Lundquist put down a frontswap p2 giving her the female lead. Tom leveled up his p2 with a p4 giving him a 92 and the first place position. Kuura again going crazy with a 4in backswap c2.
With riders having to call their judged runs, so many practice runs were also going down in the finals. It was pretty difficult to keep up with who was gettting judged when on what tricks, watch the full replay to see em all cause I'm positive some good runs didnt get scored. Top 6 male and 4 female moved onto the super finals. Here the final scores!

Super Finals
Female Super Finalists: Taylor Lundquist, Marion, Megan O, Dasha
Male Super Finalists: Kuura, Tucker Fitz, Phil L, Tom Wallisch, Jackson Kartsteter, Chris Boyer
Super finals! Quick 15 minute Jam, single best trick wins. Snow was causing issues but regardless Tom Wallisch put the first trick of super finals down with a 360 swap on the battleship. Jackson stepped that up with a 5swap to sw! Kuura 4 on but wanted more. Taylor did a beautiful backswap c2. Phil also got his own 5swap to fwd not quite as clean as he might have liked. Marion hit a backswap frontswap to sw. Tucker was so close to back 3swap p2 the donkey just couldn’t hold on. With 2 minutes left Jackson put a gnarly b5swap p2, Megan laced a frontswap p2. Phil L 5swaped but couldn’t hold for the p2. Dasha got her broken slide w safety to wrap it up. Super Finals were a battle, final positions were announced at the podiums.

Best Trick
Almost everyone got back out for the best trick session, aiming to nab the Samsung best trick Prize as well as the cash. We had Tom handing out stacks of cash, putting bounties on features and tricks. No one tried for the $100 flip in but we did see Etienne Geoffrey loose a ski, but ride out his misty out the up rail as well as claim Tom’s 2p2 bounty on the battleship! Tucker brought out some tech taps, Rudy with a big safety slide. Jacob and Matt hit a double run with some spray for show. Etienne somehow figured out a money glitch and kept claiming the bounties, a fronty gained him some more cash. Kuura cleaned up the transfer from the battleship to downrail with a 4 out at the end that was insane and claimed him the Samsung Best Trick prize! Cash was flying, peoples wallets left fatter than they came, perfect way to wrap up the night.

Podiums
Time to crown the champs, Female podium, Megan 3rd, Marion 2nd, Taylor 1st! Male Podium, Kuura 3rd, Tom Wallisch 2nd, Jackson Kartsteter 1st! All these riders went home amped, 3rd place took home $4500, $7000 for 2nd and 1st place went home with $10gs each! And can’t forget the $1250 Most Gnarly Bail award, that went to Ethan Lawson for a big ol slam earlier in the night. Fantastic night finished off with an equally dope after party, thanks Apik! ❤️
