Willamette Pass, a ski resort located in Oregon being the closest to Eugene, has been recently acquired by Mountain Capital Partners (MCP) two years ago. This week they finally announced their plans with the resort, which includes 6 new lifts, 2 mountain restaurants, employee housing, parking and finally a highway crossing. When I talked to them yesterday they said it would probably take ~ 20 years for all of this to be complete but they plan on trying to get at least 1 lift in as soon as possible.
About the lifts
This will be the first lift in 20 years, as the last chairlift upgrade was in 2004. Currently they are working on getting the permit with the forest service for it, but believe they will be able to at least complete 1 lift with in 3 years but they are going to try and do one each year if possible. Currently these proposed lifts include 7 lifts and 1 surface carpet, when I talked to them last night, they stated "We plan on having the new 6 lifts be fixed grip 3 seat chairs but that could change."
- A picture of the proposed development. I'm sorry it's pixelated, newschoolers just made it lower res. If you'd like a higher res then just message me.
Other buildings/base lodge upgrades
Current plans for the buildings include, 2 new on hill restaurants, employee housing, parking and finally a highway crossing. As Willamette has grown over these last two years there has been many instances of customers not being able to ski because the parking lots have been full, along with that, currently parking in the second parking lot risks crossing the highway. The highway does not have stop signs, nor crossings and it is very dangerous for guests.
- A in depth summary of what they plan on doing and why, sorry for bad crop and pixilation. I might have a better picture just let me know if you'd like to see it.
What I'd like to see
Personally I would like to see is a smaller project which includes upgrades to the terrain park and an addition of a rope tow. I think a rope tow would be helpful not just for advanced park skiers but also skiers, like me, trying to get into park.
There is a form for feedback that will be published, I assume, soon at https://www.willamettepass.ski/. But if not contact me as I got a QR code for it.
