Summit County's A-Basin is set to open this Friday, October 21st for their 70th season- making them the first resort in the U.S. to open for the 2016-2017 season. According to their website, "The Black Mountain Express lift will open at 9:00 am with access to the intermediate High Noon run. Early season conditions exist and there is NO BEGINNER SKING".

Last night, the mid-mountain received about 4-5 inches of snow, and weather forecasts for snow-making are perfect through the end of the week. A-Basin is typically one of the first two resorts to open in Colorado each season, opening day last season was October 29th.
