Calling all producers, athletes and fans… With the International Freeski Film Festival only four months away, we’ve got some important and exciting news for this year’s iF3 Awards.
First, as a result of the growing amount of content that is produced each year, particularly for the online side of things, we’ve opted to retool the criteria for three key awards to a more lengthbased format. As a result of this decision, potential nominees for Film of the Year are now required to be over 30 minutes long, Best Short must run between 9 30 minutes, and Best Short Video 2 8 minutes.
In addition to this, we’ve also added a brand new award, Discovery of the Year, which will be awarded to a breakout performance from an athlete in their first appearance in an Amateur category film, while it’s proverbial big brother, Rookie of the Year, will continue to be awarded to the most standpoint performance from an athlete’s inaugural appearance in a Pro category film.
And on the heels of its success last year, qualification for The All Girls @ iF3 program has been retooled, as female athletes will now need to register directly with iF3 (as opposed to relying on producers) in order to be eligible for Best Female Park Performance and Best Female Freeride Performance. To submit for these awards, athletes can utilize either their segments from an official film, or a short clip of raw but edited footage from a film in which their skiing is featured.
