With expected warm weather this week we are staying open NIGHTS ONLY this week Monday-Thursday.  We want to offer the best conditions possible and this provides the best chance to preserve the snow for the best conditions possible.  Plus, no need to call in sick this week!  Hopefully snow making conditions will return later in [...]

Biggest Little chairlift in the West

Never thought we’d see the day that there was an opening day park on Kiss-a-Bear.  The snow making opportunities this fall have been short, warm and with winds blowing the opposite  from the ideal direction.  It was a good thing we installed a new snow making pipeline under the Nugget chair this summer.  That upgrade [...]

We’ve been hard at it farming snow on Castle Peak.  The east winds really blew the snow far from where we wanted it tuesday night.  Good news is that we’ve been able to farm alot more back onto the run than we thought was possible this time yesterday.  So what that means is that the [...]

Top-to-Bottom Snowmaking

Oct 27th 2010 - 0 comments

The snowmaking conditions were prime for laying down snow on the mountain.  Cranked up snowmaking at 6pm and went full-force until about 10am.  Looking real good for a Friday opening with at least Nugget chair and a terrain park.

Last night the temps were prefect for snowmaking.   We were able to crank up the full system top-to-bottom beginning at 6pm last night.  The guns are still blasting the mountain as we speak.

Ok…here’s the scoop.  Everyone is itching for the season to start and we are super pumped to get snowmaking fired up.  As soon as the temps drop it’s a sure thing we will have all guns blazing and be working in overdrive to get open as soon as possible.  The forecast looks promising to start [...]

Snowmaking system is 100% ready to go to get us shredding again for the upcoming season. Park crew, Stu and Julian, have been busy putting the system through it’s preseason tests the last two weeks. Today every machine on Castle Peak and Nugget passed their final pressure tests with flying colors. We are set up [...]

Continuing with our commitment to high powered and fully automated snowmaking, Boreal took delivery of the  first 5 SMI PUMA snow machines in North America today.  These next generation SMI machines are sweet.  The PUMAs produce more snow at warmer temps using less energy then earlier SMI fan snow machines.  These 5 machines are portable [...]

Recycling old jibs into new creations

These 3 boxes are the latest beat up, busted, twisted features to get a new lease on life. These used to all be flat boxes.  Nothing new as we’ve been doing this for the past 6 yrs…but now all the FrakenFeatures get a hot new recycled logo.  Some of our favorite jibs started life as [...]

Trent Palmer was the mastermind behind Team Moment’s winning JPI video last fall. Unbelievable what he is up to these days. Could be a game changer if he takes these skills to filming on or rather over the snow this winter. Trent Palmer Aerial Reel from Trent Palmer on Vimeo.
