Greetings from Saas Fee

For the past week I've been skiing at Saas Fee, Switzerland. As you may know, conditions in glaciers are generally really variable, but this time we've been lucky with weather. It's been sunny almost every day and landings are nice and soft due to snowfalls during nights. My skiing-game has taken big leaps ahead, and now I think I'm allowed to say for the first time that I'm better at skiing than I was before the injuries took place.
Last weekend I participated to the FIS halfpipe Europa Cup competition. The pipe was one of the most iciest surfaces I've ever skied on, but otherwise pretty good. I made it to the finals with a rather easy run and decided to step it up with a couple of harder tricks. This turned out to be a good choice in the sense that I landed a run that first seemed impossible in that pipe, but a bad choice because I did it during practice and not in my final run. In the finals (and that's when everything counts) I landed my last hit just slightly on wrong side of the edges and couldn't keep it together. Here's a link to that run. While watching it you can also brush up your cursing skills in Finnish by listening to the guy behind the camera.

Anyway, results are not all that matters. Especially not in this kind of a relatively small competition. There are still three days left of my this fall's journey to Saas Fee and even with a screwed up competition I can say that it's already been worth it.
