Trailers?

I was just thinking...why are trailers called trailers? A trailer is something that comes after, yet we call ski movie PREviews trailers? What ever happened to calling them teasers? Sure some still do, but where did this all come from? They day I call a preview a trailer is the day I see a cabose pulling a train.


Its not how good you ski, but how good you look in the lift line that counts.

a teaser is like 1 min or shorter whereas a trailer is a couple min in length.. atleast thats the way i see it. But we may never know.

yeah no kidding you dont see a trailer in front of a truck do you? or at least i havnt/.....it should be called a leader..

but yeah a teaser is a same thing as a trailer

I'm pretty sure movie 'trailers' used to come after the movie in the theaters, not before like they do now.

there's a great article in the new york times magazine I just read that talks about trailers and teasers. Basically, teasers are like 30 sec.... trailers 2:30.

the 'trailer' doesnt come before the video. a good proper trailer is made after the movie. then they take good clips and make a trailer. so the trailer comres after the movie
