I just got back from Alpine Valley a little bit ago.
With the anticipated colder weather this evening, they do plan on blowing snow tonight, and still possibly opening this weekend.
There is pretty much no snow left in Chesterland, home of Alpine Valley, except in areas where snow was plowed and shyt//.
however, Alpine does have pretty big piles of snow by each snow gun, meaning they HAVE blown snow.
Here's the news, though:
RAILS.
I talked to Dave, the rental barn manager who is also the new lift manager.
He said they are 100% confiremed on rails. They were bought from a company that I forogt the name on...maybe 'free'-something? I'm not sure. He said they made the Breckenridge rails.
They expect them the end of December.
They hopefeuly will be installed the first week of January. Which, in Alpine-lingo, is the end of next season, hah.
They will be on the 'backside'-the side facing the quad-of the arrowhead. ABOVE the 'halfpipe'.
there is six rails.
they will be put out 4 at a time, 'rotated throughout the season.'-yeah right.
they will be in groups, 2 and 2, so that way you can jib one after another, for 2 rails.
there is a:
8 foot flat
15 foot flat
and 20 foot flat
a-frame
15 foot (TOTAL=small) flat down flat
battleship.
they are all 3' square metal.
time for dinner.
