GrandThingsLol ur gunna hate Holy Cross then....
SteezyYeeterNo I'm gonna love it lol. I believe in the morals espoused by the Catholic Church it's just that they've distorted scripture to fit a narrative, as many religions do. I'm just interested in seeking the truth. I'll never not be Christian, as I think Jesus was important either way. Regardless, I like the Christian iconography and I'm glad I'm going there. It's not like they shove it down your throat.
Fwiw, my problem is the God of the old testament is basically evil. He commits genocide and is incredibly wrathful, it is not the same God of love and forgiveness that Jesus calls 'father' in the new testament. Obviously I'm not the first to see this, and of course there are arguments for how it's the same God. However, these are really unconvincing and just seem like mental gymnastics (most people ignore the fact that the testaments use different words for the Gods, some bibles mistranslate it all as 'God'). People just don't really think about it. It's also a lot, it implies polytheism. It's really cool to me, and has opened up a whole new world, I also like history so I'm learning about the ancients as well.
partyandBSi think the difference is in the time of which it was written. end of the day, the bible was written by man and will undoubtedly be influenced by what was happening in their day to day lives and the reasons for which they seek god. so it can very well be the same god and seen from a different perspective due to life circumstances. similarly, your vision of god, jamal’s vision of god or lack thereof lol and my vision are all different. but even your vision compared to your parents or siblings are different. almost like there are 8 billion versions of the same god at the same time lol.
kinda a tangent here but same goes for you as a person. the way your best friend sees you vs. the way your parents see you vs. the way I see you vs. the way ballclapper sees you (he doesn’t lol) are all different versions of you. shit even the version you see of yourself is different this year compared to last.
point being, it’s no surprise that the same god can be depicted differently over the course of hundreds/thousands of years. it also makes it easier to see that other religions aren’t necessarily wrong but they are just a different perspective/interpretation of the same god/s molded to their culture and experiences over crazy amounts of time.

GrandThingsIdk brother if you didn't like the Jesuit pope, what makes you think that your ideals will better align with a Jesuit university?
theabortionatorGlad I took the over. Your 3 days are up Francis. I don't make the rules. Unfortunately I only made my money back because apparently the odds were 0 that he would respawn faster that JC. Jesus fucking up my life yet again. Gosh darnit!!!!
