Certified socal rippah here, psyched to see some local mountains got snow, I've been car camping in bear as of late but am closer to palomar mountain.
for those who don't know - because no one knows - pretty empty mountain range south of san bern, the only claim they've had is a pretty sick observatory and a ski hill that used to be there in the 60's.
anywho, they got like 7 inches of snow and its an hour from me as opposed to the 2 and a half from big bear, easier to drive up after school, rip for a few hours, head home.
I have a homie who's bringing an avy shovel but i know it's gonna be a pain with just that, tuffy? anything else? kinda trying to keep it cheap, is an amazon or home depot shovel worth it just to return at the end of the day? only done street once and had a tuffy, only done backcountry one time and had some fancy black diamond one.
honestly trying to just go boot around for a bit but not sure if i should stay on camp site areas or hike for a bit down the road, local rangers might not appreciate it and i know to break it down after im done.
wondering if anyone has tips, thinking just park, hike, go to an open area away from trails, break the jump/rail, leave.
if the thread comes across weird im sorry im in my statistics class
