Need Advice on my 50/50 touring setup

I’ve looked into it, it’s a sick looking binding but the price is not doable for me. All the reviews i’ve read about the shift 2s have lead me to come to finally trusting them, people don’t seem to have any consistent prerelease issues at all so at this point i think the shift 2 is a logical step from the duke

Kingpins are 695g and also super solid. Sammy C rips the shit out of them, can find on sale too for pretty cheap. I have shift ptsd so hell no for me them sketchy af.

If you want a slightly lighter ski check out the blackcrows draco (it is pricy) it really wants to be going very fast. I am a kingpin hater they blow up and get a bit jank quick, also not DIN rated and doesnt release like you might want it to. If you are thinking about kingpin, lose some more weight and get a pin binding. The new shift 2 is a solid binding, easier to work on, whole bunch of quality of life upgrades. Its good, and its a thing where if you treat your shit well it will last long. Also just easier and nicer to use than dukes or cast since on toe piece to forget.
There are loads more free touring skis out there than in the psat few years, draco, moment wildcat and deathwish tour, atomic backland 109 fr... All being lighter and skiing quite well (a caveat as lighter skis just dont ski as well as heavy ones). From me skiing my dracos they are definitely burly enough to use in bounds.

i really don’t want to be on a pin inbounds, I am not sammy c so i fall a lot and i need a binding that releases well when it should. I get the shift ptsd but they fixed the afd which gave most of the pre release problems on the old one and they beefed up the wings around the toe and people don’t seem to be having any pre release issues.

Pins should release fine if you're skiing the correct DIN and have everything set up correctly. I've become a crumedgon/lazy and ski my touring skis inbounds and in the park and they fine.

Shifts are fine. The 2.0 is way better. Everyone on this site is a full time shift hater. Like seriously, I feel like people shouldn't say shifts are bad for pre release and then reccomend kingpins. It's a tech toe that dosen't have adjustable release. Does Sammy ski them? Yes he does, but he's also Sammy and just better. All the Salomon people do the things they do on Shifts and have no problems. That being said, CAST and Duke's will always preform better in extreme performance instances because (I believe) of the greater elastic travel
