Are skis made for skiing anymore?

Nibbletinkertbh I've never had a ski issue in my life.
Had Jon olson Head ski can't remember, Loved those skis.
Line Ghetto Blasters for like 5 years (still works to this day)
Armada Al Dante for like 6 years, (broke after 8 years)
Vishnu for 4 years and the ski is still alive 2 years later (barely)
Now I've had a surface upper for 2 years and they have 0 damage, a bit of wear.
I'm not nice to skis either I treat them like they are, tools. You retards just be belly flopping off a half hucked backy and are shocked when the ski is fucking snapped

freestyler540OP should take better care of his skis.
1. Take your skis home and store them in a comfortable, dry temperature room. DO NOT store them in your car, parked outside in -20C after a warm sunny day.
2. Repair core shots ASAP!
3. Wax skis periodically. It also seals imperfections in the Ptex, preventing water infiltration.
4. Pond skims and water ramps destroys the ski. Use beat up skis for that.
5. Detune the edges first if your gonna do rails.

skierman"the base just started to bubble" so you also blistered your bases by improperly waxing them, great job! But yes, keep blaming the manufacturers for your mistakes.

jaxfulGot a pair of ON3Ps this season after hearing nothing but good things about durability and construction, but now have 3 edge cracks and slight delam within a month and a half of mounting them. Did everything right, gave them a heavy detune and don't throw big disasters on them. Just a little disappointed, my vishnus lasted longer than these did before showing edge problems.

are skis still made for damn skiing? I understand we put our gear through a lot of stress but fuck it’s getting ridiculous. Yes park skis never used to last that long. But those 2016-17 poachers lived through 5 seasons. Those 2010’s k2 had a damn good run. I know everything is getting more expensive, inflation, etc but can we somehow make skis more durable? i’m tired

And only put the rubber/soft polymer underfoot otherwise the edges wouldn’t hold right on harder snow. Probably decreases the turning preformance a bit but might increase durability on rails

K-Dot.Yeah surface auburns back when they made them had a thin, maybe 1-2mm sheet of rubber sandwiched between the edge and the sidewall. Seemed to actually work pretty decently, hopping on rails was very slightly dampened and despite having quite a few edge cracks after two seasons of rails, no sections came out by the time I retired the ski cause of tearing a binding out. Top sheets were fried though, surface used to make their top sheets out of loose leaf paper. But the rubber mat was a solid concept imo, it seemed to let the edge flex enough that it wasn’t going to get knocked out on heavy impacts and seemed to absorb some of the shock to the sidewalls. Could just be placebo though but it did seem noticeable

BradFiAusNzCoCaYes. It’s not unheard of. Small manufacturer I interned at did it. They used VDS strips. helps with bonding too.
