Schizo thread incoming!!
Ok, so basically just like on3p's, Vishnus have their own secret sauce and technique that you gotta tap into to get the most out of the skis...
some people think "oh its a soft ski I can wash out and ski backseat af and it'll be cool and the soft will cover up bad tech"
but naurrr
Vishnus are a special breed and they too will reward you for the work you put in. They are like taming a horse.
Vishnu's love to be skied from the boots, bend ur damn knees and get ur shins in the front of ur boots and treat those skis like they part of ur boots because they are. Hone your blade and clean up ur forward and switch landings so ur not backseat cuz washing out isn't really swerve
Secondly, keep ur feet TOGETHER, unless ur sliding a rail or taking off on a spin u should look like ur on a monoski, u gonna get wayyyy more control outta the skis, both for general skiing and for control on nose and tail butters. also generally looks cool as fuuck. and when ur going skimanguy mode it enhances ur high speed control.
Thirdly, NOLLIE NOLLIE NOLLIE
Fourthly, use your edges, I mean u should definitely be detuning no doubt about that, but having a narrow ass ski like the Wet really allows u to use ur edges to work rail control. also, when ur doing butter tricks on flat or on rollers/quarter type features use ur tail or nose edges to almost catch urself during butters to do cool momentum shift stuff. always be pretzing.
Next, speed is key, i'm not talking about always go fast, or always go slow, the benefit of having a ski so maneuverable is that u can pull speed out of absolute nowhere, u can literally skate up to something flat and have enough speed so easily. The other side of this, is you should not worry about "oh I don't have enough speed for that rail", thats a lie, you do have enough speed, ollie urself up there and trust ur feet and u will make it. The power of vishnu is that you can hit a rail with absolute zeeeero speed and hit some slowtech wizardry, or you can rip in mach turkey and have enough control and maneuverability to pull something off.
Another point, if you DO land backseat or wash a landing or under-rotate, you got the power to save the situation by quickly going for nose or tails and popping out a quick spin on the ground, whatever you can pull, that is swerve, add some improv to ur skiing.
that brings to the next point, IMPROV is everything, when ur setting goals and learning tricks, ur bound to mess something up. Vishnu's are very bouncy playful... fall off early on a rail?? ollie/nollie back on quick and pull a 2 out... Get stuck at 50 on a swap? hold on to that and pull 50 or sw50 to 180 out. possibilities are endless tho, you don't always need to go for set tricks either get silly with it and do something unique, do some nose blocks on the side of a roller or something get weird.
lastly I think, sizing is important, be true to urself, 189 is not always answer. the right size ski will help u enhance ur technique even further, the ski will feel like an extension of your body and maximize your progression. I think the final point of all this is that once ur ski starts to feel like part of you you have unlocked the secret sauce.
inb4; someone says this is literally just how you ski, I know this is all generally good ski advice but I feel some people just get soft park skis and throw technique out the window so thats my reason for making the thread. shit technique isn't swerve, its about having control to still land bolts and lace shit, but also having the improv ability to pull something from nothing, and take tricks to more places than just rails and jumps and not being afraid to Get weird.
oh yeah don't straddle rails
