How to hit down rails with speed?

I don’t know if I’m just missing something or if the park crew at my hill is just doing a not-so-great job, but how do I hit a down rail with any speed? Whenever I try with speed, even with the most minimal pop, I’m not actually touching the rail until about halfway down. On the other hand, I feel like I have to go so slow to actually get onto the start of the rail.
Should I be kind of absorbing the lip or something? I feel like I did a bad job explaining the problem.

I don't really pop onto downrails unless I'm doing a disaster or a spin in, you should probably be absorping the lip a bit

Exactly, with speed you have to absorb, much like if you were flying down into a gap on, you would have to absorb to not just gap the thing.

Sounds like you’re dealing with a poorly setup rail. I’m guessing the lip is about as high as the rail and not really an urban setup. If that’s the case absorb that lip my guy, and make a suggestion to park crew to shave it down

Lip is probably too poppy.

That's pretty typical especially if the rail is like 10ft. Watch people urban 270 on you gotta land like half way down the rail to clear tips over the rail and spin

Absorb it as much as you can. You can also put you tails or tips down (depending on reg or lip on) to find the rail sooner, it’s more of a drag than a slide until all your weight is on the rail. You can also ollie over the lip in some scenarios, pretty fun way to get aggressive on kink rails.

Really sounds like too much lip as stated b4, it feels weird but u can kinda pop just a little early, and push ur weight down where u wanna lock on to mitigate.
but honest best course of action is make homies with some park crew guys and give them some input

Absorbing the lip is key but the angle you take and how close you are to the rail also determines how early you get on. Take a more square angle onto the rail so you don’t travel so far down it. If you are not spinning this is a pretty easy way to slide more of the rail at a higher speed.

Maybe the rail is too short to go fast? Sounds like you have it dialed but yeah. If rail take off is flst osh side entry and rail is short you'll deff skip a good amount if you're hauling. I like hitting rails with speed but def gotta slow down for some of the shorties or be okay with skipping half of it.

you don’t need to pop at all unless the rail is tall just ride up to it the lip should do all the work
