Any half decent skier can ski pretty much anything on park skis. 25 years ago skis with full camber and the same waist width were considered giant pow skis, and the founders of the sport threw down on them in the backcountry. But skis have vastly improved since then, and if you actually think that wets perform better than freeride skis in bigger terrain thats probably because you’re skiing slow af and don’t have good enough technique to throw around a big beefy ski
They are shockingly good in trees, the easy pivot makes tight turns around logs and bumps a walk in the park. Pretty unusable for anything deep and gnarly though
I’ve been taking my keys down a bunch of tech terrain at kicking horse and I’m surprised how well they do. Carve insanely well down the groomers too. They definitely have a limit can’t rip as hard as on my woodsman’s but still pretty fun
hb_lazskied down far better than actual freeride skis.
lmao hahaha uh huh, I am sure they did. Those 171 Wets must have been a real treat out there, forget any other proper ski that is not the stiffness of wet cardboard. How many selfies did you take in the ice cave with them?
@lil.Boye I have never skied wets, but if they are centre mounted, absolutely. Centred twin tips in trees are awesome, and you can swing through things tighter than a gnats ass.
In order to form the opinion that wets are better than freeride skis for freeride you must either be a trash skier or a troll. Preposterously criminal.
I was just in Breckenridge last Friday where it snowed 2ft. I have 3 year old 189 wets that held up just fine in it off Peak 6. However, you're not as fast since they act like soggy noodles. It's so fun to boost off moguls tho.
Also brecks park sucks and they used to be good 10 years ago. Vails park was surprisingly way better than Brecks (Don't ask me why I was in Vail. The amount of money in that place disgusted me seeing it for the first time). anyway....
If it’s a mogul hard pack day hell yeah I’m breaking out the Vishnu’s in the free ride they make everything fun just can’t imagine dropping cliffs on them tho

Tough to see with the snow, but my brothers wets, and my jets on top of spankys ladder at whis.
pleased to report that both skis held up, and skied down far better than actual freeride skis.
both pairs also made it down soudans, and horseshoe bowl
how did the jets do in spankeys? i always ride my surfaces off piste and in pow and they handle great but jets just seem like they would not hold up, any specific issues you had. U think they would go as a rare freeride ski? just for days when i would be in between park and side hits
