SkiingskiI keep seeing threads where some people say mounting -1cm from true center is gonna make a big difference between a true center, also does it make a difference skiing rails vs huge jumps? It makes sense that if you have rear mounted race skis in the park its gonna make a big difference vs having a good park ski but how much of a difference does it really make?
_brrettI even remove the rear spoiler when I ride my center mounted skis and put it back when I ride more directional skis. Totally depends on what setup youre running and what your skiing.
_brrettCan someone who is a ski wizard confirm or deny that this is a good idea. I swear to god it feels better riding my Jeffs with the extra forward lean but my V’s feel better with an upright stance
_brrettAs somebody who is hyper-aware of my ski setup. I don’t start noticing anything until -2ish. It does feel a little bit different, skiing wise. But it wont make a difference in terms of tricks you can do (unless you go far back). It just rides different.
To explain it in ski terms - the weight of a center mounted ski feels more balanced in the air. I even notice it on swaps but not balancing on the rail itself for some reason. But a ski mounted a few cm’s back feels like it carves better and I find I can ride with a more aggressive stance and it feels natural. You should tailor your ski setup around the way you like to ride. I even remove the rear spoiler when I ride my center mounted skis and put it back when I ride more directional skis. Totally depends on what setup youre running and what your skiing.
Benchhitterif you look at a discipline where racers and freestyle guys compete together, like freeride, you can really tell who rode park and who raced their whole life based on their stance imo
lil.BoyeI have heard from several people that being in the center of the camber instead of the core/ ski center is the way to go. Never nerded this myself but might be better than most centermounts.
