Neighborhoods in Denver

Currently in centennial/parker with some family, but moving on with my girl and dogs. Staying in Denver for the job I have.

What areas should I be looking at? Looking mostly along 470, seems like the best recreation access and safer than like Aurora.

Golden is a top pick but rent is tough to find. Looked at a place in Littleton, columbine area. Was cool but wondering where else to check out

Wash park or Lohi are my two favorite neighborhoods but both pricey. I think city park is cheaper and just as nice but the access to anything related to the mountains is a nightmare. Cap hill can be nice if you're close to cheeseman park. South Broadway is almost as fun of an area as Colfax with less of the uh, colfax-ness, worth checking out some spots there.

If you go lakewood I would personally stay away from east lakewood, certain areas are super gritty, and westminister has really nice pockets but also extremely terrible ones as well

i’ve been looking for a rental in golden for 6 years, people who live there don’t fucking move lol.

what’s ur priority? are you in office 5 days a week? or are you more “trying to be in the mountains/nature” and Denver is a second thought here?

im in wheat ridge and it’s chill, def not lively like lohi or rino but the table mountains are like 10 mins away.

Appreciate it! Yeah I wouldn’t mind living closer to Denver but my coworkers who do live there say it can get mad sketch. Don’t mind some areas but finding a house would be a bitch (dogs)

I agree west Lakewood for sure is nicer, Ruby hill would be a dream but definitely not the spot lol.

I commute 3-5 days a week to around belmar area, office was in wheat ridge, thought it was solid but also had some sketch areas. Where in wheat ridge are yah at? Looking at applewood/ west of Kipling.

It’s a bit further north but i live around Broomfield/Northglenn which id recommend. 30ish min to Wheat Ridge.. I’ll take the traffic for a quiet neighborhood and a yard

Northglenn is a haul and I’m biased but Arvada/Westminster is the sweet spot IMO. I’ve never lived in an apartment only houses in decent neighborhoods so I know some areas are sketch but I’ve never dealt with any issues IMO seems most of the crime is Hispanic/cartel related, normies like us get by just fine. 15-20 minute drive/uber to Denver or Boulder which is why I really don’t see the attraction to Centennial or Littleton—close to nothing maybe if you live on the far west end close to 470 to ski or if your spouse works in Colorado Springs but otherwise it makes no sense to me. Some people like the city and as much as I hate Boulder politics/revenue collection, we go to Boulder to eat/hike/hang out a lot more than we do Denver anyways

I don’t live in Denver and have never been there but with zero research this place sounds very nice. Bet they have a great small batch/micro brew crack scene.

my gf lives by mile high/sloans lake and its super easy to hop on 6 to i70. i got friends near green mountain and they just pedal out on their bikes from their door which is super sick. also pretty far west so easy to hop on 70 to the mountains. littleton is alright. pretty far but better than parker. what about evergreen?? idk where your work is. that would probably also be a factor

Close enough to the rtd W line where you can ride the rail back from the airport or catch the bustang to all the resorts from Jeffco govt center

W runs every 15 mins which is clutch, but i’ve had some sketchy ass experiences on there. G line feels safer but only runs every 30.

hopefully that RTD funding we all voted for actually works out. i wanna use public transit more but this city makes it unrealistic

The security is night and day from the 2019-2022 super sketchy covid era. Enough public outrage made a difference. Almost no more prowlers anymore imo. G line probably has nicer amenities on the line with olde towne arvada being a good community, but you'd have to backtrack to union station to catch the bustang.

I used rtd quite a bit during covid and it was sketch. From the homeless to racist fights, it was a wild ride to experience as an onlooker. The bus depot at union station was incredibly dangerous and yet I was there all the time…. Needed to use the restroom once and walked right into what seemed like some deal or gang meeting and dipped right away. I wonder how it is now.
