eheathJust be happy that Wallisch is involved, he's the best ski commentator to date.
stokedelicFor real, TWall might come off a bit corny, but at least the dude knows what he’s talking about and is up to date with the scene. Even Tanner as announcer sounded a little out of touch, and my lord do you remember Sal Masakela? Dude would roughly count 360s mid air and then just say “STOMP” for like 8 years straight.
eheathThat "other guy" is the dude who is leading the broadcast, he has that job because the production trusts he is able to introduce the event, transition between riders, hits the sponsorship details and keeps the broadcast on track. Without this person the broadcast would be a mess, its a necessary piece.

K-Dot.Alr but is any of that really outside of Wallisch’s abilities? Isn’t he already a steady hand at the wheel kind of guy that can be trusted by large brands? Like be honest, do you really think Wallisch is incapable of introducing an event, talking about sponsors and keeping things on track?
And why should we be groveling at x games feet just for allowing only one announcer being an actual knowledgeable skier? Isn’t the value of the whole damn event being created by the skiers? Why can’t skiers be the ones talking about skiing?
I understand it takes skill and experience to be good at but also cte riddled nfl players do it regularly, no part of me is sold on the idea that it’s wholly beyond the capabilities of the ski community to have two skiers announcing at the same time

eheathThe NFL players you are referring to are doing Toms job, color commentator. The other job is play by play.
Could Tom do it? Sure, but that's not how TV broadcasts are produced, Tom doesn't want to be the play by play guy either I would bet, its a hard job.
This has nothing to do with what WE think they should do. WE are a few random people on a forum, the production of xgames has the way they do something and it’s the same way all sports broadcasts are done.
mrk127a few years ago I would have hopped into talk shit but steepsteep is growing on me lmao. A steepsteep commentator cameo could be entertaining
captainslackGet Woodsy on every broadcast, he killed it on the Laax open.
