Protective baselayers

Hey guys

my hips got ruined on some rails last week and it got me thinking abt getting some protective or padded shorts for a base layer. Anyone use anything similar that can give recs on what to look for? Am I slow for just now thinking about this or is this whack?

Make sure you get it from an actual reputable company and not some dropshipped shit. Lots of cheap ones out there that aren’t great

yeah get the crash shorts for sure. They have saved me a lot since I got them. I'm looking into getting some sort of football flak jacket type shirt too since I bruised my ribs again a couple weeks back. I got the body prox shorts and they have been pretty nice. Seems like there are a lot of good options out there that are pretty low profile that you won't really notice when you are riding. Kinda silly I went so long with zero pads now that I think about it

Def not temu lol I got mine from rippl impact gear, saw an ad for it and it was like 50% off so I decided to just send it and see. I haven’t skied with it yet but it seems like it would do it’s job protecting my hips and ass on rails, but you can also tell it’s not that great quality. If you’re gonna get the rippl shorts size down, it fits kinda loose when it should be tight around my hips

Baseball slide shorts. Thin pads ands they work well. You hardly know they’re there. Plus they keep ur junk all in one spot.

I rarely wear more protection than a helmet but I have a Shred back protector that I really like. Their impact shorts seem well made.

It took a while to find some with pads that lined up well on my hips and fit well overall but they are great to have. I got mine from a motocross shop, tried a few pairs from some of the bigger companies beforehand.

Does anyone have a recommendation for knee protection? I got some lacerations from blunt force last week and now my dad says no knee pads no rail skiing.

I think it’s the VPD 2.0 padded short. Not 100% sure as it’s been 5+ years

Try looking into soft-shell mtb knee protection, I've word some TLD knee pads under my snowpants and it's barely noticeable. G-form is a super low-profile option but $$
